Figuring out the Bungles

#1

So technically our bye week is over, so we can look ahead to the Bungles week.

The team seems to be an enigma. They have endured some ups and downs this season, and today the Colts took it to them. I imagine they’ll play us like every other team and crowd the LOS and date Bortles to beat them. Our defense definitely can slow down Dalton and AJ Green.

If we run well, minimize mistakes and play solid defense, I see us winning 20-10.

That said this team needs consecutive wins. I think it will be a launch pad for greater things if they do, and the fans definitely was some consistency.

I really hope Cam Robinson, Linder and Fournette are all healthy for this game.

The Bengals can get after the passer, and their secondary is decent.  We will need to be able to run play action to pass effectively, and without these guys, it will be much harder to move the ball against these guys.

Bengals fans seem really down on their OL, so I'm hoping we can really shut their offense down.

I could see Robinson easily missing the game, he seemed to have a pretty painful injury. If Linder isn't playing I have to question the "illness" label for whatever his ailment is. Normal illnesses don't last more than a month. Fournette might play, he'll have had three weeks since he was injured, but if he can't go I think the Jaguars can still win against the Bengals if Linder can go. I think Linder is the most important guy to have back in the starting lineup.

Just saw in another thread that Linder's illness has caused him some weight loss.  I wonder if it has had a negative effect on his strength/power.

Wells played a good game in Robinson's absence last week, but given a week to prepare for him, I don't like the idea of Wells against any Bengals DE.  I would hope the Jaguars counter with Lewis to that side and a lot of RB chipping.

Speaking of blocking schemes, assuming a nickel DL of Ngakoue and Fowler on the ends and Dareus and Campbell inside, I wonder who the Bengals would double.

I still say the Bengals stink this year, especially their O-line.

I think the Jags should be able to handle this game fairly easily.

Of course, consistently winning is the issue here. But, I think the Jags take this one.

If Linder returns and the weight loss thing is true you can almost guarantee he would have lost a bit of strength. I would expect him to rotate in and out a bit and not play every down.

I can guarantee that Appendicitis and the accompanying required surgery is at least that length of a down time. I have zero clue as to what he has it's just a example of one of many illnesses that could keep someone down that long. To question it and place the word illness in "Quotations" makes you sound like you are inferring that someone is trying to pull something over on you?

On topic, you are correct. He is important. I hope they are all back and 100%. The fact that the clots could hang with them is a pretty good indication that they are not that good though.

I'm glad the Bengals won so they should be coming in with some momentum. Jags shouldn't take them lightly

but the tale will be told this Sunday.

Bengals actually got extremely lucky to win that game. They needed a defensive score at the end of the game to win.

Jags really should handle them on defense. Their OLine is so bad that they rotate lineman during the game. Outside of Green, they don't have any WRs to really worry about. Ramsey on Green should be a good matchup.

Jags will be hungry (I hope) to get after it.

Bengals lost their 2 best offensive linemen in free agency. That's a big hit that nobody talks about (on TV or the radio) since they don't play skill positions.

By Sunday's game, the Bengals will have the number one defense technically if I'm correct. Can't take them lightly. Bortles needs to show he can have a good game against a good defense.

Nah. Not by any measure.

Denver is allowing 250 yards per game. Jags allow the 15.7 points per game. Cincy has a very good defense but not the best. They also allow 110 rushing yards per game which is middle of the road. Jags run the crap out of the ball. I think it's going to be a good game but I expect the Jags defense to overwhelm the Bengals.

My point was simply that I don't consider medical issues that require invasive treatment "illness" the way I consider the flu illness.

If Marrone had said he has a non football related medical issue then I'd have been expecting a guy to miss a month or more possibly. Saying they have an illness made me expect he'd miss a week or two at the most.

Not that it particularly matters, just taking about my perception of Marrone's truthfulness.

bengals Oline is AWFUL.. they are the exact type of team the Jags D should be able to single handedly win the game

they cant run the ball, and they have only 1 offensive weapon who they funnel everything through and struggle without in AJ Green.. our corners should shut him down and the pass rush should destroy the QB.. and again, they cant run

All we have to do on offense is run the ball, and play action... score 17 and it should be enough to win

The Bungles are not going to spend all week only preparing for Josh Wells unless Cam Robinson is ruled out tomorrow.

They beat the clots by 1.

If we lose to the bungles, we suck and deserve no chance at the playoffs lol

The fact that nobody knows what's wrong with Brandon Linder rules out appendicitis, which teams list on injury reports after players have surgery. Also, appendectomies only force a player to miss one game. I will not say anything else about that.

Cincy's strength is the defensive line. We definitely need both linemen to win this cat fight.

Cincy has a terrible running and OL game so thats a big plus for us

They do have a good defense so its gonna be up to our offense to get some points

We should win, we are the better team

Watching yesterdays game, nothing about the Bengals impressed me. Their interior D-line even had me scratching my head. This is one that the Jags should run away with.
