"Linebacker Telvin Smith welcomed the defense’s newest addition.

“I’ve seen a lot of people say it and I’m going to steal it: We won the bye week.” Smith said. “That’s definitely an upgrade for our defense. It definitely adds depth to our defense. … That’s going to be a crazy rotation, so definitely looking forward to adding another head to this monster.”

Dareus started 85 of 91 games with the Bills and has 35 sacks, though only one in five games this season. His best year was under Marrone in 2014, when he finished with a career-best 10 sacks and was a first-team All-Pro selection. He was named to the Pro Bowl in 2013 and 2014."

Dareus is excited, our team is excited, the fans are excited, the only person that thinks this is not a good move is Ernest billsfan hemmingway.

This thread can get to 50 pages but no one is gonna convince me that the jaguars didnt get a steal, even if dareus plays half as good as he used to, it's still well worth the 6th, but I'd bet money he far exceeds that.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

I was referring to Buffalo in general, not the Bills.

It's a dirty city. The local music and beer scene is solid though.

5 years ago, you would be spot on. Back when Buffalo and Cleveland were dying, Cleveland decided to develop the waterfront and Buffalos answer was to put in a subway. Cleveland did it right. Buffalos subway literally goes no where and as the shopping downtown died it simple became a shuttle for attending an event downtown. FINALLY when the Pegulas (who not only own the Bills but the Sabres too) came into town they threw a TON of $$ into developing the waterfront and area around the area. The results are simply stunning. You wouldnt believe its the same city and has done wonders for the city and surrounding areas. Its obviously not the same, but its starting to get a Key West Mallory Square type of vibe. Its why people jokingly call it Pegulaville.. they have quite literally saved the city of Buffalo

Yes, that area is pretty cool. I've been to the brewer's fest at outer harbor which is also cool. My hotel was near the area you're talking about. It was still largely under construction when I was there, but you could see it coming together.

Coincidentally - the Jags owner is planning a similar development in Jax for an area of abandoned shipyards downtown near the stadium.

More from Telvin regarding the Dareus add:

"It's going to be a crazy rotation," Smith said, per the team. "I'm looking forward to adding another head to that monster."

To be fair  -- I think it's around 16 pages about a DT that may finally help shore up our run defense, and 7 pages from a sour grapes bills fan that posts in buffalo long form.

Still with this sour grapes stuff? If anything its YOU being a little salty that theres a risk involved rather than the initial uninformed thinking of 'fleecing' a team for an all pro player on top of his game who doubles as a choir boy on his day off.
I thought we were past this nonsense and established why this move makes sense for both sides, what led up to it, and why it happened.
When you buy a car, I'd imagine you are smart enough to get the equivalent to a carfax. You want to find out what the issue was, and why the expensive car is being sold for super cheap. Was it in an accident? did it have the engine replaced? is the price low enough for the risk? Same idea.
Sometimes players just dont work in systems. Dosent mean they cant somewhere else, so why keep shoving a square peg in a round hole? Sometimes ya gotta move on - which is what happened here.
I'll tell ya what, I'd hate to see the reaction when someone actually does come on here being salty - because if this is any indication you'll have no idea what to do with yourself.
In what world is a person taking time out of their day to explain a situation to fans LITERALLY asking "why would buffalo trade him"??? constituted as being SOUR GRAPES?
I was trying to be helpful and some people decided they wanted to get in a fight or talk crap for some reason. WAS NOT MY INTENT. But as weve covered -dude straight up wasnt playing. I'd guess most people gave up or came to terms with his poor play or hindering contract last year when he was suspended for half the year and then came back and promptly sustained a hammy or groin injury that kept him out bc he didnt keep in shape.
The hope was we didnt have to PAY someone picks to take him. We didnt = happy camper.

I dont wanna bicker... I REALLY do want to get along, co-exist and talk football bc im excited to see how this plays out for you guys.
Lets wipe that slate clean?

IT WAS A JOKE. (I thought "buffalo long form" would give that away)

Settle down. No one is going to come down on you as long as we can carry on reasonable dialogue here.

What is your take on K Benjamin?  Do you think that has anything to do with Zay jones' development thus far?  If you want, there is an NFL at large forum to discuss this particular line of questioning so as not to derail this thread.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

Thanks, I hit that up. Long story short... I'm not really sure what the Panthers are thinking. My 1st thought was that it was similar to this in the team believed it was addition by subtraction..... to an extent, the GM is implying via this opening up more time for Funchess and co. Was he a head case? Locker room issue? After listening to Carolina radio and reading the local articles there seems to be a few people talking about weight and desire as well as a trick knee - but it seems to be getting universally panned. My favorite was a write up from somewhere (SI maybe) that rated it a A+ for the Bills and the Panthers grade was :Millen
We NEEDED something. Although he might not be elite, he is far better than anything we have. It really might just be as simple as CAR wants to shake things up and wanted to get something for him if they didnt plan on extending him after 2018... but a 3/7 still seems cheap.
I just hope he fits. Taylor needs guys to be college open. Sammy was the only guy hes ever trusted to grab a 50/50 ball but he could burn. He wont see that kind of separation with KB so hopefully they build a rapport and this isnt a wasted weapon.
I was/am happy, but cant get past what happens to have a team thats 5-3 trade their #1 midseason for a 3?
If it seems to good to be true..... Smile
The writing was on the wall for Dareus and he needed a change. I cant figure out what reasoning besides wanting to feature Funchess that theyd do this.
I think some Buffalo fans are getting a little carried away, throwing around words like ELITE and REAL #1... IMO Good WR, specific skill set - nice accompaniment...NOT Wakins talent though. which is ok bc in a vaccum they essentially turned Cardale Jones(got a 7th sent to CAR), Sammy Watkins, and Darby into Jordan Matthews, EJ Gaines, a 2nd, and Kelvin Benjiman. Compared to the incompetency that has burdened this team for the last 6 years its a nice change of pace.
For the record, at this point I FULLY ADMIT if I was a CAR fan or situations were reversed - Id be SUPER SALTY!!!
For that reason alone I havent logged into my CAR message board accountSmile

Just so you know, Kelvin came to camp overweight and he's not a hard worker. He left practice early a couple weeks ago and he just doesn't seem to gel with his teammates. I hope he works out for you though.....

LOL, I made sure to mention that a few posts back ( on the last page ) before regarding pros and cons - as well as mentioning that my biggest fear is that attitude dosent jive with the play for the guy next to you attitude.
I'm many things, but i PROMISE, no matter how hard you try, you will NOT catch me being a hypocrite.
If thats the case and becomes more of an issue than hes worth it would end the 'honeymoon' period for this regime. That said, I do wonder if there are things that havent been made public.

I'm excited too. Dareus is a huge piece to add.

But I'm excited that players around the league look at Jacksonville as an attractive destination now. There are players on our team that guys wanna play with.

Awesome change over the past few years.

Did you catch the mic'd up segment where Jackson went to Campbell on the sideline and said "Aren't you glad I called you about playing on this team?"

That boy seen that tape and found out his roll lol. He ready to eat. This defense is a gap heavy defense so that means on any given play, you can be the guy making the splash play on defense. He can get back to being that monster in the middle he’s been his whole life lol

Time to eat big fella

I didn't, but that's awesome. It's a whole new culture in Jacksonville.

Obviously. They should not be letting the Jets dominate them.
