This Week in the AFC South-Week 9
|
Jags
Colts (Watson effect) Ravens 2-0 last week (figure just easier math to count the Indy/Cincy game I got in late. Plus they were losing at the time I typed it lol) 15-9 overall
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS

We no longer have to worry about Houston, but Marcus Mariota is still around. and has better RBs to work with. I will not change my Texans/Colts pick.

Watson's stock has never been higher than it was coming into this week. He might get voted to the pro bowl on the strength of October and his market size.

Is there a mercy rule on sacks? I feel Savage needs a mercy rule on sacks, man is not moble or dynamic at all.

We beat them 29-7 with their full strength defense and half of Watson. You really think our second meeting against a depleted defense and a stronger one on our side will be a low-scoring game?

That's the routine bye week for the most part-injured players get healthier . But the bye week ended in anything but routine fashion, as the Jaguars made a trade before the trade deadline to acquire Pro bowl DT Marcell Dareus from Buffalo for a conditional 6th round pick that could go as high as a 5th. While Houston did not share the Jaguars' bye week, last week was quite eventful for the Texans, as several players walked out of practice after a meeting with Texans' owner Bob McNair, who apparently said something in a way that didn't sit too well with several players, including LT Duane Brown, who just ended his holdout of 8 weeks. Most of the team knelt during the anthem as in protest of McNair, then proceeded to play, by most accounts, an instant classic of a game against Seattle. The next day, the Texans traded Duane Brown to Seattle for 2nd and third round picks. I think that is a case of McNair wanting to get rid of a disgruntled player, because otherwise it makes ZERO sense to declare you just found your franchise QB after going your franchise's entire existence without one, then trade away the stud LT whose job it is to protect him. I think at least in the short term, the Jaguars got better and the Texans got worse. The bye week/trade deadline time frame was uneventful for the tacks, and while there was a lot of speculation that the Colts were willing to deal WR T.Y. Hilton or CB Vontae Davis, nothing materialized on either of those areas, leaving the Colts unchanged and in last place. On a board/personal note, I was finally able to get my record above .500 for the first time. Let's hope I can stay there after this week.Well I am picking: Jags, Colts, and Ravens (this is the most difficult one, but that Ravens D is good, Flacco is back). 6-0 overall Yes, it's improvement, but it's Blaine Gabbert 2012 level improvement. - Pirkster The Home Hypnotist! I'm thinking of changing a couple of my picks. Can the Colts pull off the upset against the Texans without Watson, especially considering that Tom Savage only has a couple of days to prepare to start? Can the Ravens with Joe Flacco pull off the win against the Titans? There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those who don't.

It is not like he needs to get ready on short notice. Joe Flacco is coming off a concussion. I would not expect him to play better Sunday than he did before the Dolphins game.

Tom Savage may have taken a few reps with the starters, but I'll bet their game plan has to be adjusted. Consider this. If the Jaguars' game plan was designed with a few QB runs for Blake Bortles and the same thing happened, would Chad Henne be able to execute those plays the same? With virtually no practice time? IIRC Friday is usually a limited practice to "fine tune" the game plan for most teams and Saturday is a "walk through". This puts the game squarely on the back of the Texans' defense since Tom Savage has not "rehearsed" the play selection that goes with the game plan. There are 10 kinds of people in this world. I don't know what the symbols are for, but we all know Deshaun Watson is much better than Tom Savage. Bill O'Brien will scale back the playbook. If Savage can't run a play, he won't call it.
