Haha good point. I thought it was entertaining but less than impressive.

Recently watched Hidden Figures and Patriot's Day. Enjoyed both of those for very different reasons.

Also set a date with a friend of mine to go and see Guardians of the Galaxy 2 which I'm really looking forward to!

Charlize Theron is very good and sounds just like her!

I find it interesting that most/all King's works translated to film are just as quirky and uneven as the books.

What's hit/miss about the books and the films aren't the same things.

Also, those that have been remade by different artists vary so much as well.

There are departures from the book I love in Kubrick's Shining, but there are also some things about the miniseries that are nice as well that are very different than the film.

I think the interpreters had about as hard a time as King did in expressing fully what they wanted.

I think that's a signature of his work, the imperfection of it, the "human"-ness of so much that he does that is mixed with supernatural.

All in all, I like his works and their interpretations.  I think I like Kubrick's Shining as much as any.  I just love Kubrick, and the performances were really, really good.

Quirky as hell, but good none the less.. Ever tried some of King's short stories? Some are just as quirky yet great..

Try out either:

Taking the kids to see Guardians 2 should be a good time. Love the Palatka theater, tickets, popcorn and drinks for all 5 of us and I'll spend less than $30!

I liked it, as usual the first was better but this one was good anyways. Best part was "your hideous" and "your pretty on the inside" lol

Absolutely. I think Dave Bautista had the best lines.. it certainly wasn't a disappointing follow up to the first by any stretch!

We streamed "10 Cloverfield Lane" this weekend.  Wanted to like it but thought they were trying to jam every horror movie cliche into one script.  Might have worked better as a spoof if they'd have decided to direct it that way.

Two of my favorite movies, The Shawshank Redemption and Stand by Me, were excellent adaptations of King novellas.

That Blade Runner 2049 trailer just dropped yesterday. Was hyped up when I saw it. That'll be the first movie since Mad Max: Fury Road that'll more than likely get me out of the house and overpay at the theater to see in October when it's released.

Vangelis didn't do the music score for this movie but the composer for the film kept some of his scores in the film with some slight variations which is awesome. Gosling I believe will be the lead. Leto will be one of the bad guys. Ford is back in it and will team up with Gosling.

Just glad this is considered a true sequel after so many years and not a reboot or restart of the film. That's always a plus to me as a fan. Blade Runner is such an amazing movie. Rutger Hauer won't be in this one. At least not to my knowledge since he technically dies in the last film. But he really made that movie special.

Has anyone seen john wick vol2. Couldn't get a decent version on firestick so I'll wait and buy it but i have heard some very mixed reviews. Hope it lived up the first cause I enjoyed vol 1.

Quote:I was being facetious. I know he was Private Ryan, but the movie focused more on the guys who were saving him. Not the character who was being saved. He was barely in the movie. I know this is a strange comparison, but his role in that film was like Jared Leto's role as The Joker in Suicide Squad. You expect him to get a lot of screen time, but the movie focuses on other characters instead.

I think this was by design. The movie was about the effort to save him, it didn't matter who he was.

Big fan of the original, most sequels don't live up to the hype but once in a great while it happens.  Hopefully this is one of those exceptions.

I took my niece and nephew to go see Thor: Ragnarok yesterday. It was fantastic. I loved the story, it was extremely funny, the special FX were well done and acting was on point. It was just a really fun movie to watch and the kids loved it as well. If I had to rank it, I would have to say it's my second favorite Marvel film, behind Captain America: The Winter Soldier. I can't wait for Infinity Wars.

Tonight, my family got together and we watched Wonder Woman. I've had the DVD for a couple weeks now, but this is the first chance I've had to see it. I was impressed. I wasn't expecting much, because so far, the D.C. Comics films have sucked. The Superman films bored me to tears and Batman vs. Superman was a mess. After seeing Wonder Woman, I realized it isn't that the D.C. films are bad, it's just that Zack Snyder is a terrible director. WW was directed by Patty Jenkins and she actually knew what she was doing. The casting was good, the story flowed nicely and more importantly, the special FX looked fairly realistic. Snyder's films all look like they're overly CGI'd to the point, they look like they are taking place in a video game. Unfortunately, Snyder directed the upcoming, Justice League film and the trailer looks like his typical work. It'll make money, but I bet the reviews are gonna be bad.

I was really excited for WW after hearing so much about it.

Unfortunately, I thought it was pretty average.
