While the refs were bad...

My issue with Hackett is he is too quick to abandon the run, spreed them out and run, stop only running Fournette with the FB

Aside from today, I don't feel he's done that very often. (second half of tacks game though)

I think today a large part of that had to do with Cam and Cann both playing hurt and Wells/Shatley starting.
They didn't have much confidence up front.

Nonetheless - I felt they should have committed to getting the run going more than they did.

I think some of you are forgetting 60% of the Oline was either out or questionable for the game and the two healthy guys are barely working back from the respective injuries/illness.

Eventually, there’s only so much you can do to hide that.

He came in the game leading the NFL in yards per game, SD has a good defense they stacked the box, he had his worst game, you guys overreact so fast, whats so concerning come on dude its the NFL.

The OL was awful today too, and he hasnt not played in three weeks also

Down Parnell and Cann coming off injury.

BTW, anyone who said Rivers is less than mediocre please stop watching football. Rivers is great and he is way better than any QB this franchise has ever had.

Thanks for the input, I'm going to enjoy another win. Now please go away!

Make me.

Enjoy it while you can because if this team continues to play like this a real team is gonna destroy them.

Chargers are a real team. Their record is not indicative of how good they are. Wouldn't not be surprised if they finish the season at .500

The play calling when he is in game.  I wish the play calling would have been like the past two weeks when he was out.

Running the ball every down is great and all, but it only works when the opposing teams offensive line doesn’t get away with holding. The defense has to keep getting the ball back to the offense. I’ve never seen a game that includes a dozen plus holds and some including literal hugs and wrapping arms around the defensive lineman’s necks. I wish they published their errors every week

I agree they need to stop showing their hand and running him with the FB so much, spread it out and run him too, teams know when the fullback is in we are running or going play action

My only issue with the play calling was passing on third and short multiple times today. I trust Fournette to get 2 yards than Bortles to convert

This has to be a troll. Bortles played his butt off while getting chased down and hit all day with no chance to do much of anything. He got out of his rhythm when we threw the ball what seemed like 20 times in a row and all of his picks were preceded by a stupid penalty putting us in long yardage situations while behind... can't do that. Fournette seems banged up and had no issues running for us until today. I don't know who said Rivers was below mediocre but to throw every QB this franchise has ever had under the bus just tells me you have an agenda.
No pain, no gain.

No one was saying the chargers had a good run defense last week. Last week the talk was how horrible agans the run they where so let's not pretend he was shut down by some great defensive unit.

My concern was in the past Fornette could at least get something in the past today he was useless. Gus Bradley effectively took him out of the game that gives me pause that's all.

The only real call I am upset with is the one where they call Robinson for false start. That was extra bad.

Gus always had the potential to cause issues, he knows us so intricately and he knows full well in our offense making Blake throw is preferential. I'd wager that their D was practising to eliminate Fournette this whole week.

The refs game them huge help though and as mentioned its similar help the Rams received too. It's very suspect that both LA teams seem to be being favoured.

I do find it odd that the most egregious calls against us have been in the N.Y. jets game and both La teams.

I guess I just don’t see what y’all are seeing.

The Robinson false start was terrible. I’m not sure why they picked up the defenseless receiver flag on Marqis. I question that.

I also thought at the 6:30 mark in the 3rd qtr we had a free blitzer come through the middle, Rivers toook 10 steps STRAIGHT back and tossed the ball 20 yards high straight out of bounds. I question why that wasn’t intentional grounding.

Someone said they saw more than a dozen holding calls not called. I’m not sure I saw that. Maybe one or two although I’m certain there are folks on the board better at spotting that stuff than I.

A dozen might be a bit of hyperbole...
But they were definitely holding a lot... Good OL guys know how to get away with it...
but there were a couple where our edge guys (Yannick and Campbell) were in head locks trying to get around the tackles... How those weren't called is beyond me.

Yeah multiple people have mentioned the headlock/chokehold thing, I guess I just didn’t see it.

Does anyone know the officials reasoning for, picking up the flag on The pass to Lee?

They said it was a legal hit: I guess hitting the receiver as the ball is getting in the area is clean and legal.

But as many have perceived it... they picked up the flag because of Lee's taunt...
which would never be admitted cuz it would be a terrible move from a ref lol

To me... it looked like an illegal defenseless receiver, if not PI.

Yeah I thought that was how the called that.

Not really sure how they picked that flag up.

Re-watched the game this morning.  It was bad.  Campbell was hooked 3 plays in a row before he got a call and the back judge was right there.

The Pick on Smith for the Charger 2nd touchdown was so egregious the only way a ref could miss it is because they didn't want to see it.

Call me a conspiracy nut but I find it suspect that both games against the new LA teams were horribly called in favor of those two teams.  The Chargers and the Rams are having attendance issues, more so the Chargers but it appears to me that LA is not embracing the NFL's return as much as was hoped.
