Josh Sitton

Other than A Rob this should be our top target in FA imo. Id like to keep Hurns but even if it means cutting Hurns to get Sittton id do it. Sitton is still a top 10 guard and has a couple good years left. I would still draft a guard early or a center and move Linder back to guard. We need to beef up the interior for Fournette where he does his best work. Resigning A Rob and signing Sitton would be a great offseason.

I'd like Sitton too. But lets say he costs 9 million per year, why not go all out and try get Norwell at 12/13.
I like Sitton as well and think would be very good for a couple of years here.
Also I wonder if with the increased cap space we could be trying to get a versatile OL like Pugh who has obvious connections to our staff but that should be in high demand and very expensive in FA. Cap savings definitely give us more room to work with and opens up some possibilities.

Because thats a lot more and I think Sitton is better than Norwell. Bears cut Sitton due to make 8 mil a year, I think you could get him for 8 mil being his age and it will give us a couple years to draft his replacement. Id rather not pay a guard 12/14 mil a year and Norwell will probably want more years (02-25-2018, 04:58 PM)flgatorsandjags Wrote:Not anymore he ain't. Still a very good guard , just Norwell's 2017 and age would edge him over for me. Yeah I'd be perfectly fine with Sitton at 8/9. Wouldn't mind Norwell at a few mill extra either. Long as the interior is bulked up via draft and/or FA i'm happy.(02-25-2018, 04:35 PM)JackCity Wrote: I'd like Sitton too. Sitton was asked last time he was a FA if his hometown Jags had shown him interest. He replied by saying more than one of the Florida teams had contacted him (I'd guess one being us but who knows) but that he absolutely hated the Florida heat and did not want to go back there. That's a big reason why he chose Chicago.
I'll just copy/paste this again from the other thread since it's only been two days.

Why not just draft a good prospect than overpay a GUARD who might appear better than he is playing for ARog?

He was still quite good for the Bears last year too, while blocking for a rookie. He is old though, he will be expensive, he has missed 3 games each of the last two seasons due to injury, and he hates our climate. I don't see it happening, but if it did it'd be a nice surprise. You sign Sitton and draft Hernandez, we could upgrade both guard spots. If we did that we would have one of the best olines in the league
So apparently Justin Pugh recently moved to Florida. With him having played for Coughlin and Marrone, he seems like a logical fit here.
While I like Sitton more, his comments about not wanting to play in the heat does seem to make him unlikely to come here. I could get behind this. 27 years old, lots of starting experience and plays pretty well at LG. Cam/Pugh/Linder is a STRONG left side. “Motivation alone is not enough. Would feel much better seeing Pugh slide to RT then to see Wells trot on to the field.
That's also why I like Pugh. It's important to have a good backup at tackle instead of Wells. Pugh is still young and was a pro-bowler. Also, by signing him that would enable the Jags to draft a quarterback who may fall to the end of round 1- like Rudolph. He'd be a big upgrade over Henne and this is very important in case Bortles got hurt towards the end of the season like Wentz.
