Jaguars select Orlando Brown in Round Two of Site Mock

#1

I'm picturing Orlando at RG and liking it. The guy is an absolute beast in terms of sheer size and strength, and he really needs to be a G because he's not athletic enough to play outside.  Orlando has a passion for the game that Marrone will love, and he'd be a fixture at RG taking names I could totally see it. I don't care if he runs a 6.0 40. I really like guy as an immediate starter to upgrade the OL in round two.

The speed is the only worry, would it limit what the jags want to do with pulling guards, etc?

While I do not want to overreact to a combine workout either positively or negatively, I have to admit Brown's poor combine showing gives me pause, if only for a moment.  Prior to the combine, I had no reason whatsoever to doubt what you have typed here, and I was a pretty staunch advocate of his.

I am still inclined to believe he would be an asset to this team, and I think at minimum he'd make a good guard, but I believe he'd eventually make a good RT.  If the draft unfolded like this, I would be reasonably happy, but would have some concerns until his play alleviates them.

That would be a concern to me, albeit a minor one.

In my estimation (FWIW-though admittedly this is from memory, not charting), the Jaguars don't seem to pull their linemen much.  They don't seem to trap much or run the classic Lombardi type sweep.

They do run screen passes, though and I would share your concern about his ability to get out on those screens.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

Would not draft this guy till after the 3rd round. 14 reps at the bench, 19" vertical, slow 40. Man boobs. Yelled at the combine for loafing. This guy is weak, not explosive, lazy, not competitive, and a marshmallow body.

Every mock I have done, Brown has fallen to the 3rd or 4th round.

Come to think of, looking back at getting Ridley and Brown... I'm not truly satisfied. I'd rather something like Isaiah Wynn and Hayden Hurst or even Vander Esch and  Branden Smith.

I doubt Branden will last until the end of round two, but like Hurst he would be an ideal pick there.

I would much rather see the Jags take some combo of TE/OG in the first two rounds and wait on the receiver addition until at least the third, probably later.

I think they are much more likely to come away with players who will make the most immediate impact on this roster with that strategy.

I'm a big Braden Smith fan and almost took him instead of Brown

I took BAP in round 1

Ridley/Brown would be an awfully underwhelming two rounds to me.

Brown is a 1st round talent with a 5th round heart

Were you the one who felt there were 5-6 WRs better than Ridley?

I don't have an exact number, but something like that yeah.

With Anthony Miller showing he is fully healthy and super explosive I'll put him ahead of Ridley now also. He was borderline even with the Jones fracture recovery worry.

I don't want this guy at all really. He didn't look good on film and didn't look good at the combine. Not sure why nfl.com has such a high grade on him.

Because he is huge and has "upside".

Yeah I suppose so.  Lots of these lineman in this draft have upside though, I'd rather have someone with a higher floor that actually seems like they give a hoot.
