After watching him this was my take away. Dude has a lightning quick release and very good strength. I actually like the puck plus price worked with him at Tulane.

I think most are saying this because the guys on TV were trashing the QB when the Jaguars made the pick.

Luke folk is better.

For one, he has a much stronger arm than Luke. For another, Luke was already gone when they made the pick.

His comp% is terrible.  And his TD/INT ratio is terrible.  Also, he is very immobile.  It's a very peculiar selection.

He does need to improve his accuracy a bit by getting his 57.5 percent average at Nebraska up to at least 59 percent. It's not THAT terrible.

23 TDs to 16 INTs is a bit high on the INTs...basically a 3:2 ratio...so he'll definitely have to learn how to cut those down. I'm sure Coughlin will have some choice words for him.

Indeed he tends to go down when he scrambles, but he does have a nice pocket presence when he's able to stand in there. He has both the poise in the pocket you want to see and that ability to subtly move around and avoid pressure. He also throws quickly which helps, but agreed he's not one to run outside the pocket in order to extend plays. 

The bottom line is he has a lot of the traits you want in an NFL quarterback including natural leadership skills. He basically just needs to get smarter with the football.

I don't see him even beating out Kessler this year, but he's a project. If they can just get his head straight, he has the talent to be a starter. From all indications, they should have a good two years to work on him before we'd want him to take over.

That is turn is the main difference between him and the other QBs, most of whom have weak arms by comparison. Those weaker armed QBs are destined for a backup role at best. Tanner Lee has a chance to develop into a starter.

Time to give the coaches some credit. remember he played ONE YEAR with Nebraska. They did not have a running game, it was basically Tanner slinging it all over to second rate receivers. Yes to no surprise that resulted in some INT's. Let's look closer..

Tanner was 2nd in pass attempts ahead of Mcsorley and Barrett

He didn't just dink and dunk, he was 4th in passing yards per attempt
Tanner's PASS ATTEMPTS  were 2nd in the league. Cannot be overemphasized how outlandish this is for Nebraska.

In his first year, Nebraska turned the ball over to Tanner to win games. He had no rusher in the top 10. What a weird year for Nebraska. The result was the TEAM sucked big time
. While he may be fodder, probably is, there have been talented QB's who only shined once they were off their miserable college team. His skills in the pro testing days were as good as anyone drafted.
Fingers crossed Coughlin did his homework.and let's welcome the next Tom Brady. ( have a little optimism)

Also if Tanner Lee turns out to be Blake Bortles, then I'd say we got a steal.  Cause Blake isn't awful.  I mean we did kind of make it to a AFC Championship game with him.  And no, he wasn't the major contributing factor, but it also wasn't in spite of him either.

I'm really starting to believe most of this board values qb over everything else....Bad defense, lineman, wrs, etc.  Its cool everyone wants a Brady or Rodgers or Brees that makes every falilure around them look irrelevant to the common fan.  Teams win championships and not just QBs. 

Maybe its because ive seen my share of horrid qb play around the league, but Blake is a hell of a lot more reliable than credited for.  The coaches didnt let him win the ne game with the playcalling and yet you all blame his previous mistakes on why coaching didnt pull out every trick in the bag to win.

We have a great Defense and are building up the offense and almost made a SB.  Hell i dont doubt Blake wouldve contributed to a W if we had thrown more late.  It is what it is. I guess, if your not making once in a lifetime plays to win games, your not the anwer at QB no matter how much success the team can or does have with you.  Smdh. FWIW i wanted a higher rated Qb in the draft

I only remember the Iowa game where I lost count in the turnovers he had. He also seems to be a one read two at best then force it in there type qb.

He'll at least have a solid two years to develop, and this is the kind of stuff you can teach.

I think people are too quick to judge based on carreer stats. His stats at Tulane were atrocious, but he improved them a bit at Nebraska, and that should count for something.  I doubt all that many of these "experts" actually took the time out to watch him. He's got way more pro traits than I'd expect for the "worst QB in the draft."

And yes his team lacking a running game and lacking a defense was getting crushed. Sure his 16 INTs were a part of that and he'll have to cut that down, but he's not the only reason Nebraska went 4-12.

I'm completely happy with our draft. You really gotta stop whining. You can't get every position you want in the draft or free agency. The jaguars have made the most of their roster the past few years and a trip to the AFC championship game speaks to the results.

Your outlandish takes have been wrong so many times that if I were you, I'd do what most of the more logical posters on this board do and trust our proven successful front office to handle business and not get upset about things out of your control.

Agreed.  I dont know that we even needed to draft one.  But knowing they wanted to draft one and once we made it through 5 rounds without having selected one, I think they just took what was left.  And then it was slim pickings.
