I watched some cutups from that and from the game against Northwestern. In both he seemed to start slow and got a little better as the game went on. Overall, I'd say meh. Mechanics seem pretty inconsistent. He does seem to have a bit of athleticism but doesn't seem to see the field very well and for every "wow" throw he makes, he'll make 3 where you go "what was he thinking?"  Actually that does sound like a young Bortles.  I guess we'll see in training camp.

Would have preferred no QB at all. Tanner wasn't even someone I considered. He was lackluster and turnover prone at Nebraska and his completion percentage was garbage even at the college level.

I hope they don't feel obligated to keep him on the roster like they did with Allen as the third man doing nothing on gamedays. Would rather see them keep an extra WR or special teams ace if that's the case.

We waited too long to draft a QB.

I'm completely happy with our draft. You really gotta stop whining. You can't get every position you want in the draft or free agency. The jaguars have made the most of their roster the past few years and a trip to the AFC championship game speaks to the results.

Your outlandish takes have been wrong so many times that if I were you, I'd do what most of the more logical posters on this board do and trust our proven successful front office to handle business and not get upset about things out of your control.

Listening to the videos from Cough-Well it sounds like they have a pretty good idea as to what they have in Lee. Eric Price our offensive assistant coach was the offensive coordinator at Tulane when Lee was there and it sounds like they relied heavily on his opinion.

It's all about his upside. There are enough impressive traits to think he could develop, and they know they'll have at least a good two years to work with him.

For now I'm not expecting him to even beat out Kessler. I see Tanner hanging on as the 3rd string as he methodically fine-tunes his game.

If you don't think he has anything to work with, you're not really watching. He's got a very natural pocket presence with a good feel for pressure... he's got a fantastic, strong arm able to make all throws with beautiful passes... he looks the part with an impressive, big frame, and he's known for his toughness and leadership... he understands how to go through progressions to find the guy getting opening downfield.

With two years to work on him I don't see why there's no chance we salvage him. Most of issues are mental and correctable.

This seems like a total wasted pick.  We are going with Bortles and Kessler.  All we need are camp arms.  And there will be a ton of undrafted free agents you can sign to do that.

Havent been a fan of our two picks so far in day 3.

It's a sixth round pick.  On a roster this good, odds are that ANY pick in the 6th round doesn't make the roster, and best case scenario, winds up on the practice squad.  This isn't a guy they're expecting to come in and compete for a starting role, or even to be the backup QB.  Because his former offensive coordinator is on the staff, the team had some additional insight into his potential with time to develop.  There's nothing wrong with having a guy you can develop.  It certainly isn't a wasted pick.

Stop panicking... it might not be so bad.

We say he sucks because his stats sucked, but a lot might have played into that.

Watch him on tape. He has a strong, impressive arm with tons of poise in the pocket. Now you don't want him scrambling, but he's got that ability to feel and side-step pressure, and his mechanics appear solid. He also has the size and looks the part.

He's probably third string this year, and we probably don't even need to get a good look at him until mid-season 2019 at the earliest if we're not winning games. I was calling for Luke Falk who the tacks got, but he doesn't have anywhere near the arm strength of Tanner Lee. Let's just see if our staff can work with the guy. They picked him over several other QBs for a reason.

His comp% is terrible.  And his TD/INT ratio is terrible.  Also, he is very immobile.  It's a very peculiar selection.

It's not a peculiar selection at all when you listen to Coughlin's comments on the pick.

The armchair message board GMs know they could have found Tom Brady with this pick, and Coughlin went and screwed it up.  The guy is clearly clueless when it comes to making personnel decisions, right?

Complaining about a 6th round pick is par for the course with the drama queen segment of the Jaguars fan base.  The chances of a late round pick actually making the roster with the current team is slim to none, so they've picked a guy who has the potential to wind up on the practice squad developing his skills and working with NFL coaches/players.  This is definitely something we should complain loudly about.

I'm not so sure. The media guys specifically asked Caldwell if the plan is to carry 3 QBs on the active roster, and he said "Yeah, we'll open it up to 3 QBs."
