***Official Jaguars Vs. Falcons Preseason Game Night Thread***

(This post was last modified: 08-25-2018, 01:58 AM by AmeliaFL.)

Hi, Jaguars fans!   Smile  Our Jacksonville Jaguars will try to win a preseason game in front of their home fans, as they host the annual preseason rivalry with the visiting Atlanta Falcons.

Veteran first-string players traditionally play the majority of offensive and defensive series of downs during most of the the first half of the third preseason game.  Reserve position players, veteran free agents, and undrafted college players signed after the 2018 NFL Draft will continue, like all NFL teams continue to be evaluated by their coaching staffsin live game action during the preseason games, as they audition to make the final cut from the current 90-man training camp roster, to the final 53-man regular season roster, by the 4:00PM Eastern Standard Time deadline on September 3.

Prior to the third preseason game  last summer, Blake Bortles was battling for the starting QB job for the Jaguars, but this preseason he is clearly the starter for tonight, and for the season opener at the New York Giants on September 9.

Falcons though are withholding WR Julio Jones, and RB Devonte Freeman in the sidelines.

Jacksonville and Atlanta also are tied 3-3 in the all-time regular season series after 6 games. Falcons kicker Shayne Graham kicked two field goals from 33 and 46 yards in the fourth quarter to break the 17-17 tie, and win 23-17 on the road at then-named EverBank Field, in both teams last meeting back on December 20, 2015. Falcons also outscored the Jaguars 85 points to 62 in the previous six regular season games.

Brian Sexton, and Jaguars legend and former running back Fred Taylor are announicing the live TV game commentary, simulcast on WJAX CBS Channel 47, and the Jaguars Television Network, live on HD.

Jaguars will continue to provide free live online  game streaming to the remaining preseason games, tonight's home game with the Falcons, and the finale at Tampa Bay, from their team website, to through your devices on the First Coast Football app, provided by WJAX CBS Channel 47, beginning with the Pre-Game coverage at 6:00PM Eastern Standard Time.

WJXL radio host Frank Frangie, and former Jaguars players Jeff Lageman and Tony Boselli, also announces the live radio game play-by-play and game
analysis, simulcast on flagship stations WJXL 1010AM and 92.5FM, WGNE 99.9FM in Gainesville, and The Jaguars Radio Network.

A combination of partly cloudy skies and scattered thunderstorms at 84 degrees, feels like 92 degrees, is the game forecast inside TIAA Bank Field, for the 7:05PM Eastern Standard Time kickoff, along with 45% precipitation, 72% humidity, and eastern winds at 10 miles per hour.

NO injuries,  as the players both try to win a preseason game in front of their fans, and continue to make the cut from to the final 53 man roster.  Protect And Defend Your Den,  And GO JAGUARS!!!!!   Wink   Smile    Cool   Big Grin

When you get into the endzone, act like you've been there before.

Will be good to see Norwell and Parnell push some guys around. Linder is likely out tonight though :/

Would be really great to see #27 hit a gap and go for a big run.

Outside of the line and run game - I'll be watching the PR/WR6 battle, the back-up LBs (not too impressed thus far) , the back up OTs (atrocious thus far), and I'm hoping they get ASJ involved a bit as well.
The nickel spot and whether they use Harrison there should be fun to monitor as well.

Hoping to get a feel for which receivers are getting the most looks at the X,Y, and Z spots as well.
My gut tells me that the early season basic 3WR set would be  Moncrief(x), Cole (y), Lee (z).  But they've got so many possible combinations they could use it's like pulling numbers out of a hat right now.

I forgot about Linder being out.

Honestly WR is the only spot where we really aren't 100% on the rotation

I know it's only preseason, but it would of been fun seeing Jalen vs Julio.

Good call. Yes, definitely want to see those guys get some action.

Also excited to watch my first game from my new seats for the season!

I'm looking forward to seeing some game planning and schemed pass routes with the starters to gauge how much Bortles has solidified. Hoping that Bryan is playing.

Looks like my old seats in 215. Good location! I slid over and down a few rows this year.

Am I wrong, but I thought this game was originally supposed to be nationally televised?

I used to have similar seats on the other end zone in 205. Great seats for watching red zone plays, but the players get a little small at the other end of the field. Thank goodness for the ginormous displays. In those instances, don't be surprised if you find yourself watching them more than the actual play on the field.

My dad had ST in the end zone right next to Arrowman and you're right, those players got smaller the further down the field they went. Sometimes I'd pull out my binos to better see what was going on. Man, I miss going to games. Dad had to give up ST for health reasons and I ended up moving here to NC anyway. If we ever play the Panthers here in regular season I will be there with all my Jag swag on.

Looking forward to seeing what former Panther Norwell will bring to the table. Folks here were sad to see him go so I'm glad he's with us. I'm looking forward to seeing Taven play too. Heck, I'm just excited for football season!
