Actually, this is going to put Trump in a world of hurt. Rosenstein instantly becomes a star witness for Mueller, and will be summoned to testify before Congress very quickly given that he's basically the expert on how difficult Trump's staff have or haven't been making Mueller's job.

Details still murky. Nobody is sure if he resigned or was fired, or it was one of those "your fir.... I QUIT" scenarios.

A star witness to what exactly? There has been no evidence of Russia collusion 2 years into this thing. That isn't going to change tomorrow.

Rosenstein represents the swampiest of the swamp.

Huh?

If Rosenstein had anything on Trump, he would've already given it to Mueller. Rosenstein is directing the investigation.

This changes nothing as far as the Trump investigation.

Also, it's looking like this was an already scheduled meeting with Rosenstein. If that's true, the Rosenstein is seizing the opportunity to make himself out to be a martyr in the face of damning evidence against his motives.

So Trump indicated today that he'd rather Rosenstein stay in place. An admission that he needs to not do things that look like obstruction, or a sleight of hand knowing that Rosenstein has either already decided to resign or Trump will force terms of employment that make him quit?

I'd put that nerd in the mail room or send him to Idaho for a 5 year investigation assignment.
