***Official Jaguars @ Chiefs Game Day Thread***

Hi, Jaguars fans!   Smile   Our 3-1 2017 AFC South Division Champions Jacksonville Jaguars are in Midwest USA, to play the AFC West leading, 4-0 and undefeated Kansas City Chiefs in both teams 12th all-time meeting. Jaguars both are trying to end a three-game regular season losing streak over the Chiefs,  and also seek to win over the Chiefs for the first time in nine seasons.

Much of the Chiefs success so far after the first quarter of the 2018 NFL season include the production of second-year QB Patrick Mahomes, and RB Kareem Hunt.

Under Mahomes leadership, the KC Chiefs are both #9 in Passing Offense and  Total Offense, and  #13 in Rushing Offense. A good challenge for Jacksonville from their line of scrimmage, as our Jaguars currently are #1 in the NFL after four weeks with both Passing Defense and Total Defense, but are #10 in Rushing Defense.

Jaguars last defeated the Chiefs  at then named Jacksonville Municipal Stadium back in November 8, 2009.  Jaguars maintained an early lead, their last score a Maurice Jones-Drew 10-yard TD run to make it Jaguars 24-6 early in the fourth q uarter and despite a rally by KC with Matt Cassel's two TD passes, from 54 yards, and 5 yards to Chris Chambers, the Jaguars still won 24-21.

As in 2007, Jacksonville also last defeated Kansas City on the road and in an away game, entering Week 5 action with their 3-1 record,   11 years to the day today.  Maurice Jones-Drew scored on his 52-yard touchdown run, David Garrard threw his 3-yard TD pass to Dennis Northcutt,  and John Carney's 20-yard field goal, and his two PAT's, helped the Jaguars defeat the Chiefs 17-7 back on October 7, 2007.

Kansas City outscores Jacksonville in total points in the previous 11 games by 240 points to 223, but the Jaguars leads the all-time regular season series with 6 wins and 5 losses, a rivalry that began when the Jaguars defeated the KC Chiefs 24-10 in Jacksonville, back on November 9, 1997.

Jim Nantz and former Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo are announcing the live TV game commentary, along with sideline reporter and interviewer Tracy Wolfson, for The NFL On CBS's primary and early single header game, seen in most of the USA, and locally on WJAX CBS Channel 47, live on HD.

Rain with cloudy skies at 60 degrees, is the local gamecast inside Arrowhead Stadium, at the Harry S. Truman Sports Complex at Independence, Missouri, for the 1:05 P.M.  Eastern Standard Time kickoff, along with 70% precipitation, 92% humidity, and east/northeast winds at 7 miles per hour.

Head Linesman Brad Allen leads his NFL oficiating crew to supervise the game action on the Arrowhead Stadium playing field.

NO injuries, try to win game #4, and win at KC for the first time in 11 seasons, and GO JAGUARS!!!!!   Wink  Smile   Cool   Big Grin

That was a tough read. But great job.

That KC defense is supposed to be terrible and our offense is middle of the pack. And that KC offense is explosive but our defense should shut that down.

KC - 31
Jags - 20

Giving up 31 points is shutting them down????

Tough out today.. darn first place schedule. I will enjoy this game even if we lose. I really hope we bring Mahomes and the Chiefs back down to Earth but if I was a betting man I'd say KC 27 JAX 24
No pain, no gain.

Maybe the rain will be a good thing in that it drives more fans away and the place isn't as loud? Probably wishful thinking though.

From what I’ve seen Blake isn’t much of a mudder, so i hope Mahomes is equally ineffective in the elements. If not this could be a long day for the Jags.

The KC defensive front 7 are soft in the middle.

I think we'll see Yeldon between the tackles a fair amount and I think it will produce a good YPC number.   They'll definitely mix in some screens, swing passes and underneath stuff for Blake.

The only question is whether or not they call some play action downfield shots and let Blake turn it loose more than just a time or two. Field conditions may determine that.

I certainly hope not on Yeldon between the middle. He doesn't ever seem to be that effective. Does much better to the outside IMO.

Yes, it's improvement, but it's Blaine Gabbert 2012 level improvement. - Pirkster
