Suppose Nola doesn't hold on to him, what are you willing to pay the mostly unproven Teddy? Considering the money still owed to Blake (and the dead cap if he's cut).

Although I'm not opposed to trading a lot to get Tua... you think we'll be the only QB needy team in 2 years?
If Oakland doesn't move this year and Carr bombs... he's out for sure next year.
Maybe New England is finally looking for a guy then... boy the Pats getting Tua would be better than the clots landing Luck.


I'm not big on the idea of Teddy Bridgewater and even lesser on the idea of waiting until 2020 to draft Blake's replacement.

Rich Gannon was a mobile QB. He ran for 529 yards under Gruden in 2000.

It’s not about the school, it’s about the coach and the type of system he runs that “DOES” have an affect on the success of the QB at the next level.  That’s why Alabama QB’s don’t typically translate.  They run a vanilla offense in a time when the offense in the NFL is going toward a more spread offense.  This year Alabama has opened up the offense for Tua because he’s athletic enough to pull it off and they didn’t want him to transfer.

Personally - I'm totally down with drafting the best guy they can maneuver for and letting him sit half the season if he needs to do so.
If Kessler does OK down the stretch - the rookie could sit behind him till he's ready. If they need to sign a different journeyman to placehold, that's fine too.

I'm not opposed to chasing a vet with the intention of starting him, I'd just rather go the rookie development route for cap purposes if they think they can get their guy that way.

Yes. It's a good plan if you can do it with two QBs that aren't terrible. Luke and Blaine were miserably bad, and their line made it even worse. 

The model isn't bad. Those players were.

I don't think they can afford to go after a Vet QB honestly (none of them are any good anyways). Paying another QB $12+mil per year and having to bite the bullet on Bortles' $$, all while on an already limited budget? I don't see it, nor should they do it imo.

You're probably right.  The cost would be prohibitive and/or counterproductive in terms of what you'd give up. 

Hopefully that steers them into the preferred method of drafting young talent. 

(Regarding the cap and cuts, I think it's safe to say that Church is gone and one of the three big D-Line salaries will be gone too)

Exactly. I am not sure how anyone doesn't think there won't be a vet AND a newly drafted QB on this roster next year.

Bortles should get a head start on finding a good realtor for that beach house or rent it out to college students.

Check out your organization. If a vet QB isn't signed, Blake will be the starter next season. This franchise has screwed up twice and started a rookie before their time. They wont let it happen again. TC isn't gonna let that happen again.
