I'm certainly no scout, what do you guys think about Herbert? He's getting a lot of praise from what I'm seeing.
I just want a guy with elite arm talent 1st and foremost. (11-27-2018, 06:20 PM)imtheblkranger Wrote: I'm certainly no scout, what do you guys think about Herbert? He's getting a lot of praise from what I'm seeing. I heard Jamarcus Russell is available.
When you get into the endzone, act like you've been there before.

Grier is a taller Rex Grossman and Haskins is Fool's Gold. No thanks. No to a QB in 2019.

Personally - I'm totally down with drafting the best guy they can maneuver for and letting him sit half the season if he needs to do so.
If Kessler does OK down the stretch - the rookie could sit behind him till he's ready. If they need to sign a different journeyman to placehold, that's fine too. I'm not opposed to chasing a vet with the intention of starting him, I'd just rather go the rookie development route for cap purposes if they think they can get their guy that way. Wasn't this the plan with Luke McCown/Blaine Gabbert? “Motivation alone is not enough. Yes. It's a good plan if you can do it with two QBs that aren't terrible. Luke and Blaine were miserably bad, and their line made it even worse. The model isn't bad. Those players were. I don't think they can afford to go after a Vet QB honestly (none of them are any good anyways). Paying another QB $12+mil per year and having to bite the bullet on Bortles' $$, all while on an already limited budget? I don't see it, nor should they do it imo. Draft a QB in the 1st, or 2nd round and go from there. Go young, draft your guy and hope he's the one. Helping out the cap space a little bit in the process. Cutting Malik Jackson and Barry Church would give us around $17m. That'd be enough to free up Bortles' dead cap if we cut him. You're probably right. The cost would be prohibitive and/or counterproductive in terms of what you'd give up. Hopefully that steers them into the preferred method of drafting young talent. (Regarding the cap and cuts, I think it's safe to say that Church is gone and one of the three big D-Line salaries will be gone too)

I honestly think BB5 will start next year unless we sign or trade for a vet. I cant trust Kess until he wins a game in the NFL. Even then, I'd take BB5 over him.

Bortles should get a head start on finding a good realtor for that beach house or rent it out to college students.

They wont let it happen again. TC isn't gonna let that happen again.
