They are going to cut Blake. Eat the dead money. Start Kessler (if he plays well) or start the young QB and hope you can surround the young guy with a solid running game and defense until they can be the leader.

But, will the FO be ok with releasing him and Blake counting $16.5 mil against the cap. No team in their right mind is going to trade a 7th rounder and take on his salary.

I wouldn't be shocked if Bortles is on the roster next year. In what capacity I don't know. No one else should be shocked when it happens either.

They will be ok eating that money because it's better than paying him 21 million to be on the roster.(11-29-2018, 10:54 AM)StroudCrowd1 Wrote: A vet will be signed whether it is a "Flacco" type or maybe even Bridgewater (he is a vet by now, right?) Oesher says he's most likely cut and he's the closest writer to the Jags. He's also extremely optimistic and even he says he's cut. You just can't bring him back and then somehow justify he gives them the best chance to win. A 21 million dollar backup? No way.

Head board, we got a couple of insiders.

He still will count 9 mil is dead money. He at worst is a serviceable backup.

I do not think he is taking it personally. it is just in response to your comment:
"There is simply no chance Bortles is on our roster next year."

Simple math you cut him you only save 4.5 million.
You can't even get a backup for that money

Yes! If they don't sign a vet QB. Which they may or may not do.

Draft a QB round 1. Sign a vet for around 4 million. It's not hard. What is hard is paying Blake 21 million next year.
