Fear of the unknowns can be used for any QB ever to enter the draft. No QB is a sure thing whether they are a 4 year starter or a 1 year wonder. Would I like for Haskins to have more starting experience? Of course, but this is the hand we are dealt. We need a QB now and he appears to be the most talented QB available. As I said before, even if we are lucky enough to draft him, I would not start him in 2019. With his limited experience, he needs to sit and learn the pro game. I like what the Chiefs did with Pat Mahomes. They sat him a year and it paid off. That is why it is imperative that we fix the O-line, so when we do start a rookie QB, they are in the best position to succeed. I will say this, living in Ohio and watching almost every OSU game this year, I can honestly say this is one of the poorest pass blocking O-Lines the Buckeyes have produced in several years. Haskins seems to sense the pass rush pretty well IMO.

Well I think the rationale is that there are far fewer unknowns with a guy who has 40 starts vs a guy who has 12.  I remember hearing a long time ago, there were 3 criteria you wanted a QB to have before drafting them in the first round.  First was more than 30 starts.  Second was a career comp% over 60%.  And I'm drawing a blank on the third one.  May have been TD/INT. 

You're talking about Parcell's college QB thresholds, which are just as outdated as the draft pick trade value chart and our coaching philosophies.

Nah, Parcells' thing was all about guys who were captains, 3 year starters, graduated, etc... more intangible qualities. This other one that was fashionable for awhile was mostly about statistics. But I do agree it could be outdated in the sense that with modern day spread offenses which are everywhere in college, that 60% completion percentage might be a tad too low.

Not really. Jaguars going to win 5 straight  games and move down more spots in the draft.

I'm not saying we're going to get Haskins, but the more underclassmen QB's that declare, the more options we will have. I just think the retirement improves Haskins chances to enter the draft.

Does anyone have a good game where haskins is under constant pressure? I watched the michigan game but it seemed like he literally had all day to throw the ball and if you get time like that in college you can pick apart any secondary. He wont get that kinda time in the NFL even if our Oline comes back fully healthy and performs closer to 2017 than 18

Hopefully, we have enough common sense to upgrade the RG position and add much needed depth on the O-Line (particularly a good swing tackle), so if we have any future injuries like we did this season, we won't be at such a disadvantage.

To answer your question, no.  Hes not good under pressure.  Hes kinda like Tua. He did look good in his last game when pressure though.

I'd say that there is a very strong likelihood that the Jaguars next quarterback will either be Haskins or Drew Lock. Even if they win on Sunday against a horrible Redskins team, I still see them getting 1 of the top 2 quarterbacks. Herbert has a good chance of remaining in school and I'm not even sure if he'd be rated higher than these 2 guys if he did declare for the draft. Jaguars fans should be excited that there is a good chance they will finally get their first true franchise quarterback since Mark Brunell. Both of these quarterbacks have several qualities which can lead to a successful NFL career. Arm strength and accuracy are at the top of any list of q.b. skills necessary and both Haskins and Lock possess these traits. That being said, Haskins lack of experience and Lock's quiet demeanor (and perceived lack of leadership) have been brought up as possible roadblocks to success. I believe the Jaguars are fortunate that neither of these guys are "guarantees" as this will enable us to get one of them when we pick somewhere between picks 4-7.

Mostly everyone has focused on how disappointing this season has been and how our window is now closed. I'd like to believe that the window would have never remained open as long as Bortles was quarterback and this year's frustrations will be reversed with a new quarterback, healthy offensive line and a draft/free agency which will target an additional playmaker at wide receiver and tight end along with another swing offensive lineman. Even with the inevitable departure of Malik Jackson and Church, the defense should be fine with Bryan and Harrison. Add in a creative offensive coordinator and the Jaguars will return to the playoffs next season with the arrow continuing to point up as Haskins/Lock keep improving with experience.

Not the whole game, but if I recall correctly he was pressured pretty good the first half of the Penn State game.

To answer your question, no.  Hes not good under pressure.  Hes kinda like Tua.  He did look good in his last game when pressure though.

He look worse vs the pressure early in the season than late.
He handled it OK against Michigan. Not so much against Penn St.

Grier is still my favorite but it would be hard to be mad at getting Haskins,

Haskins is my #1 QB but I’ll be happy with Grier or Herbert (if he declares). Also, and I realize this isn’t a popular opinion, I like Tyree Jackson, and we can probably move down and get him.
