Looks like we may see close to a 10 mil dollar increase this year. That should take some of the sting out of the cap hits we are looking to eat. Outside of a couple of moves we should be able to keep the majority of the team in place if the front office desires.

We've been baking a ~10M increase in the cap with all of our salary discussions already so this just keeps us on par with expectations.

Actually, nothing changed as far as projections. Overthecap.com was already using a $190 mil cap projection while Spotrac was using a $187 mil cap projection.

Previously I used the $190 mil figure and came up with a Jaguars cap estimate of $19.4 mil over prior to any rollover money counting. Spotrac currently has us at around $6.5 mil under this year's cap, most of which can be used as rollover money, so figure on being at least $13 mil over next year's cap prior to releasing any players.

Two or three cuts and we're under. Bad cap is when you can't cut players without increasing their cap hit. Between Bortles, Jackson, and Church that's a savings of well over $20 million.

Does Blake's contract have any offset language in it where if he signs somewhere else we're off the hook for up to a certain amount?

When Coughlin first came in he did an excellent job bringing in talent and managing the cap, the contract structure of Malik, Bouye and Campbell will hefty per year salarys contain outs and little in the ways of dead money if we decided to move on. 

this past offseason was the only real botch job. Moncrief at 10 million. Giving Lee 10 million as injury prone as he is but saying Hurns was being paid too much making 7 million .... Blake being extended at any price. Norwell being overpaid. (Hayden was the only good signing and worth the $$$, jury is still out on ASJ).

They spent money last offseason for the sake of spending money and it was maddening.

I doubt it reduces cap, so it doesn't really matter. It would just save a little bit. He probably will sign for league minimum in order to get a spot on a roster since the Jags are already paying him the 6.5 and he isn't getting more than that from anyone.

Include Parnell and you have a total savings on the 2019 cap of $27.75 million. That drops the team to $14.25 million below, enough to sign the rookie draft class, and have enough left over to sign a player like Jack to an extension.

You actually need something closer to $20M but there are some second-tier players on the roster that can be cut to get the extra cap space.
