I would love for the Jags to bring in McCarthy in an OC/Assit HC role. That way if Doug fails, we can easily promote McCarthy to the head gig.

I don't see McCarthy open to the idea of being the OC for the Jaguars.  Maybe it's just me.

If Caldwell goes, Marrone should probably go too.  If we hire a new GM, let's not tie them to a coach they didn't hand pick.

The GM Coughlin will be putting in place wont be making the final calls on coaching or personnel. Tom will be.

I forgot all about Zampese.  I would be thrilled with him here.   Of course, I'd also want the team to consider Todd Haley and Kliff Kingsbury.

Haley or Kingsbury would be interesting.  Haley would be particularly interesting if he'd be willing to take on a role similar to what Marrone had before he took over for Bradley serving as a position coach (OL) and assistant head coach.  I think that's the only way you could really lure Haley in to be our QB coach.  What is clear is this team needs to nail it with the QB coach situation if they want to develop a young draft pick quickly and effectively.

FBT you forgot to menttion one thiing. our Oline stinks when we lose a first string guy. we need better back ups that can play first string. lots of teams in nfl have good back ups everywere except the jags. it seems

Wolfie, that's going to be true for pretty much any team when you see all 5 of your starters miss playing time or wind up on the IR.  The Jags could absorb one or two guys going down, but we're on our 4th LT, our 3rd LG, our second Center, our RG has missed playing time, and we're down to #2 at RT.  No team is going ot absorb that effectively and continue to produce at a high level.

I'm not a big fan of the "injury excuse", but when you look at it the way you presented it... yes injuries are a big reason for the inept play of the offense this season.  That could be one of the factors that leads to Marrone not going anywhere.

Injuries aren't the only problem, but one of the things that I really admire about Coach Marrone is the way that he refuses to point fingers and accepts responsibility for the team's record.  He also seems to be willing to accept any consequences that go along with that.

While I get the sentiment that he has kept saying "it's on me", it's pretty clear he blamed the offensive performance on his long standing OC Nate Hackett. Hence the firing.   

He has also talked about how he needs to do a better job with discipline every week with little actual effect.
