Fournette is a bust because a player that was taken 2 picks earlier than him, a year later is better? What does it matter that Barkley is better? Does a top 5 pick have to be a future hall of famer to not be labeled a bust? Does the fact that Barkley was taken 2 picks higher than Fournette afford him a little bit of room to be better without Fournette being labeled a bust? If a RB is taken first overall next year turns out better than Barkley, does that mean he's a bust? We can point at a bunch of players that are better than on our roster, so I'm not sure if I'm missing the point or you're just looking for reasons to whine.

Our QB is WORSE than Eli Manning.
Our OLINE is WORSE than the Giants.
Our OC is WORSE than the Giants.

So our RB being worse than the Giants just seems par for the course. But I think the comparison to Barkley is ridiculous because we never even had a chance to get him, so what does it matter? Why be bitter than Fournette is not Barkley when we didn't take Fournette over Barkley?
I never said he was a bust but he's not producing like a top 5 running back. Zeke, Gurley, CMac and Barkley are all RBs taken in the top 10 and Fournette isn't even close to them. You should never use a top 10 pick on a RB BUT if you do, they need to be elite. Fournette isn't.

You say Gurley but in his 2nd year he wasnt very good. Fournette has been hurt most of this year, and when he came back the team was in shambles he did have two very good games in there.

You can watch Gurley and realize he has a skillset and talent that Fournette can only dream of.

Everyone was super excited about him because he grew so big so fast and trucked The Honey Badger in 7th grade while Honey Badger was a senior in high school.

Big and strong isn't a big deal in the NFL.

Fournette, Hyde & Grant in that order.

Carlos Hyde was just a band-aid. The team signed him when we were still in contention with the division just trying to keep the wheels on but that didn't happen. Fournette needs to put in work this offseason and get his injury situation looked at or he won't last past his rookie contract. Hopefully we can keep Corey Grant, his speed gives us a completely new dimension out of the backfield. We need to get a real offensive line and a new QB.
No pain, no gain.

Fournette, Hyde and David Williams and a free agent or rookie. Yeldon and Grant are gone next year.

4net will be the Jags starting HB for 2019, not even worth discussing. No way should they give up on him after a solid rookie year and one injury-plagued year. No way.

FOURNETTE/HYDE/WILLIAMS

starting to look like the probable 2019 depth chart right now

A late round pick shifty-speedster, C.O.P. guy would be great to round it out.

This, and in that order. possibility Grant will be back if he doesnt ask for much, 1-2 mil considering his injury may limit his market this offseason.
Championship Formula:

1) Draft Trevor Lawrence!
2) Play good physical Defense!
3) Keep 91% of the roster healthy!
4) ???
5) Blank #2
6) CHAMPIONSHIP!!!

Today :

Fournette : 18 carries, 43 yards = 2.4 yards per rush
Hyde         :   8 carries, 47 yards = 5.9 yards per rush

Same dynamic with Williams last week.

Fournette's difficulty finding a crease or bouncing outside when the designed gap is shut down is alarming.
He really does need a line that gives him a lot more help than this ramshackle crew the Jags are forced to field.

I'd limit his touches next week and reevaluate in 2019 when the line has some semblance of functionality.

I think the oline run blocked pretty good today. Fournette simply missed a ton of holes. Hyde, just like Williams last week, did not.

I don't think the line blocked very well much of the time, but I sure would like to see Hyde and Williams get snaps early in the game next week.

I think this trend is more than a fluke and I'd like to see the point driven home  - even if I still believe in Fournette producing behind a better line. I'm not sold on him being the bellcow in the rotation.

The OL was putrid. There were few if any holes. To his credit, Hyde did a great job in some cases making something out of nothing.

If this were true the game day thread would not have been inundated with complaints about how Fournette was missing holes damn near every carry he had.

I saw him miss one hole early in the game. The rest is likely a case of people seeing the result and assuming the cause. We've seen the same thing from people blaming the QB(s) for all the sacks this year.

I think if you watched the game again you would see him run into piles a lot when there was daylight not far off to either side.

He missed so many holes today because he is slow getting to the line or is confused on where to run and is dancing. 1 play there is a huge hole to his left between the LT and TE. He just stares at the hole, shuffles his feet, and then finally runs toward the hole. By that time, the hole is closing.

I wouldn't be too shocked to see the Jaguars spend a mid-round pick, maybe even an early-ish pick, on a running back. Hyde is pushing 30, Williams is a total unknown and Fournette has the elusiveness of a beached whale. There needs to be some solid young depth there, and a mid-round guy who can catch might be the ticket.
