Problem with that is a team can still trade up above you with Arizona, San Fran, or the Jets and steal your guy. The only way to secure Haskins is to go to the top. See the Wentz/Goff trades.

We shall see...

I believe it. NYC posted the tweet that mentioned our scouts/brain trust have visited Ohio St. more than any other school with a top QB prospect this year.

There’s interest. Now the real question is what will it cost to move up to get him?

We did the same thing with Teddy a few years back though and we took bortles

Profootballweekly mock draft has Haskins at #7. Everything is going as planned.

Did what? Visit UL 5 times? I honestly don’t recall that but if you have a link to share I would surely appreciate it.

Here's some more fuel to the fire:

I think the Jags will either spend big to move up for Haskins or settle for Grier or Lock at #7.
I'm fine with any of that as they each give us a chance to improve at the position, but I have some reservations about Lock's ability to be effective as a rookie. I like his upside though.

I know there are still many out there that feel Grier will drop out of the first, but I don't think it will happen. I think the Jags have to take him at #7 or in a very shallow trade down.

Haskins is going to be the first off the board though - unless something dramatic happens between now and late April.

Honestly I thought with the lost season that they'd give Kyle Lauletta some more snaps just to see what he's got.

But I think NYG go OT this year in the first.
If Roger Goodell announces that the Giants have taken Jonah Williams or Greg Little with the 6th pick, I'll be doing somersaults even more impressive than when the Cowboys took Elliot over Ramsay.

Only to see us take the other, which I would be fine with.  Although Metcalf is tempting if he is still there

Well if people on FB say it then it must be true. I'm sure they think Leftwich had a quick release too

It will take a lot of draft capital to move up and IMO, Haskins doesn't warrant a #1 overall pick and especially so with losing more draft picks in the process.

This team needs MANY offensive pieces and throwing away draft picks just prolongs that process. It would be one thing if he was a generational QB, but he's not.

I also don't think we should go the Flacco/Stafford route and an more onboard of a Teddy Bridgewater type signing and spending draft picks shoring up the right side of the OL and offensive skill positions.

He's a franchise QB type prospect so he's automatically worth a #1 overall pick in this class

If someone is listening to this offer, I'm sure they will find someone else willing to outbid it.

If a team knows teams are moving to acquire a QB, the price for their pick goes up, because others are willing to pay it, whether or not it agrees with some value chart.

What I was casually watching OSU vs Washington in the Rose Bowl, the announcer kept comparing Haskins to younger Big Ben

That's the vibe I get from him too.

I also think he's got that "IT" factor. He came into a big game last year when OSU's QB got hurt and led them to a victory.

assuming this mock didn't involve trades?

Look at recent drafts, if we've learned anything, it's that teams are very willing to move around to get the guys they want at a spot where they fit.

If you rest on your laurels at 7, assuming he's going to drop into your lap, someone is going to jump ahead of you and ruin your plans.

You probably need to be in the top 3 to land him, regardless of what any mock predicts.

The win over Miami sent us down a few picks for QB as the Giants and Bucs are now selecting ahead of the Jags and may take QBs #1 and 2

Yeah, we should have done a better job of tanking. Now, probably have to settle for a Lock, Daniel Jones, or worse, Grier.

They were talking about the wind up, other than that they were talking about how similar.  Although they did mention Byron could stand in the pocket and get destroyed and deliver a nice pass.  Not so sure about Haskins

So if his throwing motion is different from Leftwich and his pocket presence is better.... What do they have in common?

So we have finally established his mechanics and release are way different.

Apart from having big arms what is similar between them? Occasionally under throwing deep balls? Is that it?

It's the color of their skin. They are 2 different QBs.  During the game Leftwhich liked to bob his head up and down like he's listening to rap music while Haskins is concentrating on dissecting defenses. Off the field Leftwich is playing video games and eating Mcdonalds.  Haskings is in the film room looking at game tape.
