It's probably not real, but it might be real.
I don't know whether to cheer or panic, and that is causing me incredible pain and suffering.
What lies behind us, and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.
From what I hear, George O'Leary has a heck of a resume.

Am I the only one who thinks Michael Lombardi should have to change his last name? He's ruining the Lombardi name, and he isn't even related to Vince!
I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

I mean I could get it if they were throwing out smokescreens for Clowney. If another team really wants Clowney then they could offer Houston a good trade...but at this rate I haven't heard other teams really wanting Bortles. Houston saying they want Bortles just means that other teams who want Clowney will look to the rams. If the Texans really are trying to throw people off and they really intend to pick Clowney but they are saying Bortles...then they are shooting themselves in the foot and not giving any real chance at a trade. I understand picks below #1 throwing smokescreens trying to throw other teams off...but the #1 pick gets whoever they want...why lie about it? Ignore JW, I think you are on the right track. McClain is a journalist and he has to produce a column and he did so. I thought he gave reasonable takes on why he thinks things will go a certain way. Just his opinion. His opinion can change as we get closer to the draft. McClain has been around a long time and I think he can get a feel for when the team is blowing smoke. Which will come later when we get close to the actual draft.
The sun's not yellow, it's chicken.
Really, there's no reason for the Texans to blow smoke at all. After all, they have all the power. You typically get smoke from teams wanting a player to fall and slip through the cracks. I don't see much value in any team with the first overall talking up a player they aren't interested in, or otherwise trying to move attention away from the player they truly want.
All they have to do is make the pick. They are in competition with no one to get whoever they want. If they want to trade the pick, then it's going to be the teams below them to begin pumping out the smoke trying to figure out how high they need to go to get who they want. I believe they're expecting someone to inquire about the pick to take Clowney, which would happen immediately after the combine if he backs up what he's promised. I don't think they're actively trying to fool anyone, they're just sitting back in a very comfortable position to see how it all unfolds.

Look at it this way...The Texans don't have to blow smoke at all. It's easy, they select first. The fact that they are blowing smoke says something about their mind towards the quality of the quarterback prospects and Clowney. The top two draft selectors are able to negotiate contracts ahead of the draft, right? When that happens the PR people hired to promote certain players shut down, their job is done. You have a good sense of when that happens when the media backs off and agrees to promote the next in line players.

You just reinforced my opinion about Cowney. Bob McNair knows about his work ethic problem and even talked about it. Because he owns the top pick there's no reason to lie about Clowney. He also mentioned pairing Clowney with Watt and being a prospect better than their most recent first overall pick Mario Williams. How does that reinforce your opinion? If anything that means Clowney is in consideration for the 1st overall pick.

My point is if the owner of the #1 pick says Jadaveon Clowney has work ethic issues, he can't be lying about that, because there is no reason for a member of that team to lie. Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say! And my point is that those issues are obviously not as bad as you keep trying to make them be if the owner is willing to overlook those issues and consider taking Clowney at #1.

Bravo brother. JW, stop worrying about his work ethic. He will be fine. Quote:Go ahead Texans. Draft Bortles. We get Teddy. Game set match.
