I feel like he can beat out Jarrod Wilson for the spot.

They also brought in Andrew Wingard who could challenge for a backup FS spot.

Likely not, he's actually more a strong safety and not very good. Wingard is a box safety too

On a side note, we drafted and signed Blair Brown in '17, made to the AFC Title game in '18.  Put 2 Bobcats on the team = CHAMPIONSHIP!

how do you think he'd be used as a space back?

Perhaps.  Ohio ran a ton out of the pistol formation and Papi would be a RB one play, split out wide the next then back to backfield in space.  He was an offensive weapon to be sure.

Not seeing it listed here, but saw that Evan Crouch (LB, Ohio U) also got a workout invite.

Last years stats: 90 tackles, 14TFL, 5.5 sacks, 2 INT

Yes, I'm truly surprised why there are no other pass-catching RBs to compete with Alfred Blue and the other scrub signed from Chicago. Neither looks like a viable Yeldon pass protector/pass catcher replacement. Maybe they think highly of David Williams or plan to use Fournette a lot in the passing game, which is what they should do more of instead of pounding him up the middle.

I wonder if they’re considering Saivion Smith at FS.

I thought the same thing.  Might make sense for him to get some work there. He would likely take a year of development to start anywhere in the secondary though.

IMO, that would be his best position fit. He is not overly athletic or instinctive enough for the CB position in the NFL, but he has size, decent power and is a pretty good and willing tackler with enough coverage traits to be a good starting Safety, if given the time to develop.

Hoping one of the receivers turns out to be decent depth or better.

Don't sleep on LB Joe Giles-Harris Tae Hayes or Tyre Brady either. Both have a chance to make the team.

Zedrick is super athletic, but lacks any type of instincts. I think he is a longshot. Wingard looks like a pure Strong Safety IMO, but I could still see him making the team as a backup. He was a good college player and has a chance.

Here’s a nice “path to the draft” video on our new safety:

If he can come in a work hard I think he’s going to make a lasting impression on our coaching staff. He could end up being at a minimum, a special teams demon.

Agreed. I do think he can win a backup Strong Safety position. The kid is like a heat seeking missile when it comes to tackling. He's almost like having another LB.

Good ST candidate as well.

From that 2:00 minute highlight video I was able to see that he has a 2nd gear to close on the outside. He has good tackling ability. And he's good at keeping the play in front of him so he can find and locate the football. Smart player.

But... What I didn't see was how well he takes on blockers and breaks free. Most of those plays were pretty much him having free range to read and react without anyone pulling out front to take him on directly. He whipped a half [BLEEP] TE block and maybe made a few plays against the interior lineman.

I like the pick-up though. Could be good depth. With his read and react abilities he could be a solid fit on Special Teams at the minimum. Especially with that 2nd gear. I really, really like players that know how to use their 2nd gear and dial it back just a bit from the snap. A lot of guys bite too hard on what they see initially instead of watching the lineman's feet at the snap to figure out which way the play is flowing. This kid did his homework before every game.

I Wouldn't be surprised if Coubs made it as an athletic H. (Defilippo using him as his Trey Burton)

The guy has 4.3 speed, so he's not exactly a box safey. That said, Zedrick Woods sure can tackle...

Since it wasn't addressed in the draft and we have zero depth, I'd bring in 3 OG's. I would replace Andrew Williams (another 3 technique with limited upside), Jeff Smith (receiver with limited upside) and Marquez Sanford (smallish, unproductive CB from a small school) with the OG's I bring in.

Maybe they offered a few OG, but those players turned the Jags down. You know never know how that scramble goes.

Plus it's not like every UDFA OG prospect will make a team, some may slip under the radar at other Rookie Workouts/Camps.

Fast in a straight line but very stiff and terrible instincts. Not a good coverage safety so you wouldn't want him playing deep or even having to flip his hips and adjust to routes going behind him either. Everyone was v v surprised he ran that in the combine
