Trump tweeted the following:
"Cummings' district is a disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess. If he spent more time in Baltimore, maybe he could help clean up this very dangerous & filthy place.”

The above really isn't news for us native Pittsburghers.  This infestation all began in 1996 !!!

Democrats all of a sudden care about Baltimore and love Al Sharpton. Trump really is a stable genius.

Oh, nice to see we are back to Trump is a RACIST!

Baltimore is a very dangerous and filthy place.
And maybe Elijah Cummings could help fix it if he was not in congress.
But no matter how dangerous or filthy aa city is, it still deserves its fair share of representatives in Congress.
And those representatives are going to discuss federal issues.
So it's not Elijah Cummings' job to "fix" Baltimore.

The Westside of Baltimore is THAT bad! It has been bad for some time. To call out this issue is not racist. Cummings has served that failed and corrupt district for 13 years. He was elected to be the voice of the people and a leader, yet his district is going further into the dumps. What did Baltimore do with the Billions received under Obama? Certainly didn't lower crime. Didn't improve infrastructure. Didn't better schools or student potential. Like it or not, Trump has a way of drawing attention to situations that require a fix that would otherwise continue to be ignored. This chess move puts pressure on the Dem party, as well as putting a spotlight on the distressed cities they represent. It's been said before, but if you insanely voted Dem or even Rep in your locale with the yearly status quo of inaction, what do you have to lose going a different direction in an attempt to better your situation and/or your neighborhoods? If multiple decades haven't brought necessary change, what are you doing? The party allegiance at the expense of well being is just mind-boggling.

It appears Donald is playing middle-aged, middle-class white males like a Stradivarius - and you're enjoying every note.

Our Dog Whistler in Chief is at it again. But progress is being made! He didn't tell Cummings to go back to where he came from and he didn't use the n-word. Baby steps.

The thing is, Donald had to know this would be perceived as being racist and he just doesn't care. Expect more of the same as time goes on toward the 2020 election.

But I thought he had the white supremacist vote locked up. Who else would this appeal to? He's just going to turn off the non-yahoo vote and hurt his own cause. Is Donald going to be the last candidate to try and win with almost only white males (and some of their spouses who do what they're told)?

Have we ever had a President who is so insecure and thin-skinned? He needs to play more golf.

What should Baltimore's representatives in US Congress be doing to fix Baltimore, that they have not done?

Is it the federal government's job to fix distressed cities?

Only The Donald could give a convicted liar like Michael Cohen credibility...

Quote:[Cohen] also described racist comments. Mr. Trump asked if he could “name a country run by a black person that wasn’t a [BLEEP] hole” and, while driving through a struggling neighborhood, remarked that only African-Americans could live that way. “He told me that black people would never vote for him because they were too stupid,” Mr. Cohen said.

Or Cohen, a convicted liar, lied about Trump's statements?

First of all kudos to the OP for the clever football reference regarding the topic.

My take on this... there are a few facts involved.

First of all, what the President tweeted was not racist in the least bit either towards Representative Elijah Cummings or the people that happen to live in Baltimore.  He simply pointed out the conditions in the representative's district in response to the representative complaining about the condition of detention centers housing illegal aliens.  The MSM as well as many democrat politicians wasted no time in calling it "racist" even though there is nothing to do with race in the President's comment.

Second, like him or not President Trump is a master at changing the narrative and in a good way.  It went from the condition of detention centers housing illegal aliens (which really aren't as bad as proclaimed) to putting a bright shining spotlight on the blight of democrat controlled cities, more specifically the one that the representative is supposed to "represent".

Third, the President's description of the representative's district is pretty much spot-on with no sugar coating it.  I challenge anyone to say otherwise.  Even the socialist darling of the far left Bernie Sanders called the place "uninhabitable" and "like a third world nation".

This is a perfect example of the far left and their identity politics.  What is ironic is the fact that the far left is sure quick to pull the "race card" yet the above quote is more racist than the tweet(s) that the President sent out.

I've been to Baltimore (I live 48 miles from it) And as long as you stay in the Inner Harbor area, it's beautiful. But don't stray too far, it's like Trump said. Baltimore is also on track to see 300+ homicides this year so rats are the least of their worries......

Baltimore on pace to cross 300 homicides

Baltimore (like most major cities) has good parts and bad parts. West Baltimore is rough but I have friends who live in Canton and Fed Hill and they absolutely love it. I lived in Canton for a year and really enjoyed my stay there. Great neighbors and the flag football league was really competitive.

Love the people chiming in on Baltimore who have never even stepped foot there.

I also don’t hear the president saying that New York City is rat infested.

Democratic policies run cities into the ground. Not a Trump thing. Just a fact.

Unless you can explain that the correlation is actually a causation to a skeptic, giving details like names, dates, and policy decisions, your certainty on the matter remains a dogma.

And what about Jacksonville, in any case? When's the last time Jacksonville's city council had a Democratic party majority? Why haven't the Republicans cleaned up the Northside yet? You're aware that the most dangerous parts of Jacksonville's Northside are more dangerous than any part of Miami, right?
