I really don't know what the Chargers are thinking. They are allowing Melvin Gordon to seek a trade, yet they don't go after McCoy. They need someone to replace him and I don't think Ekeler or Jackson will fill that hole that he leaves.

The Chargers went after McCoy... It was between the Chiefs and them, but McCoy decided to go with the Chiefs and Reid..

Does anyone else like RB Christian Wade, I am a little biased being a Brit but in the minimal touches he got he looked good. He’s strong, athletic, ridiculously quick, determined (given up a prestigious career in Rugby to compete in NFL) and he’s going to be cheap.

Interesting. If I were Melvin Gordon, I'd seriously consider taking what the Chargers offered. They have a really good team. If he wants to win a championship, that would definitely be his best hope. Looking at the teams who now need RB's, the pickings are very slim. None of the teams look to be serious playoff contenders ala Buffalo, Miami, San Francisco, Tampa Bay, Tennessee or Washington.

So we have the 53.

Let's go Jags.

No doubt. To me, keeping Wingard over Reavis and Bryan over Datone Jones was difficult to understand. I always thought you were supposed to keep your best players. I guess they have a plan.

I really hope the Jags FO got up early and is watching the waiver wire.
We have some weak points that sure need addressing.

Like Backup OT, QB, RB and TE.

I don't see us going forward with just 3 RB's on the roster. I look for the team to add another one, possibly someone who knows DeFilippo's system. I believe it may be Josh Adams, Wendell Smallwood or possibly Jay Ajayi.

One play where Reavis (a safety) failed to cover a WR after being slowed in the crossover is a poor reason to cut him. I saw several plays where Wingard was faked out of his jock. Reavis should have made the team instead of Wingard.

I believe that to have been the final nail in the coffin. He struggled the entire game against Philly and he struggled against Atlanta as well when he was given a chance to redeem himself. He went from pushing Wilson for his starting position to playing himself off the roster.

They were never going to cut Bryan, but I would have kept Jones over Ankou.

I might point out that after a full season plus the 2002 preseason, Marcus Stroud was considered a bust. I doubt Bryan will blossom in his 2nd year the way Stroud did, but it's at least a remote possibility. Also, Stroud was a higher 1st round pick and there was no backup DT outplaying him, so his roster spot was much more secure back then.

I'd expect the Jags to add another RB and TE at a minimum. Any idea who will be cut to make room?

I agree, Ekeler is a solid depth guy but wouldn't have him as the guy. I just dont see Gordon getting his mega contract. The RB market has changed. Gurley, Kamara, McCaffrey, Elliott, Bell are all ahead and none are getting crazy money.

Chiefs gave McCoy $3m, hardly crazy money.

This is where I am. They seem to have a plan they are working too, Marrone is probably gone with a bad season, its different to see an experienced coach try so many new ideas in an preseason.

Bryan seems to be the hopeful project that will just click at some point, and cutting Jones over Ankou?

Some rookie RBs that looked good this preseason got cut. I'd rather have Ozigbo or Crockett than Blue.

Guys I'd like are Ozigbo, Singleton and Lauletta.

Has the FO made any post-53 moves?
Liked Jones & Reavis. The lack of overall depth is troubling. I don’t understand. Shad hasn’t called me lately to discuss.

Cant say they were the top of my list but let's see how they go. DeValve looked ok in Cleveland but seemed injured a fair bit. Dont know much about the rest.

No QB? Kizer gone to Oakland, Smallwood to Redskins.

Like the 2 running backs. Hope they still take a q.b., but I guess the brass doesn't want to admit they may have made a mistake on Minshew.
