I don't think teams are lining up to give 2 first round picks and realizing that they have to pay him on top of it.. I'm definitely not opposed to keeping Ramsey but if we do, I think Marrone has to go and immediately. It's almost like The Jags are asking for that much for Ramsey because they don't want to trade him. I know he's arguably the best CB in the league and I know teams have made offers, but The Jags didn't jump.. I'm holding on to hope that Doug is gone Friday morning.. The offseason is too far down the road for my liking. Well hopefully it’s just innuendo. It’s gonna be bad enough they trade him, but I feel like the Jags are gonna settle for less then two first round picks (09-18-2019, 10:22 AM)StroudCrowd1 Wrote:Ahhh the classic insult when proven wrong move. Use your brain You are aware the teams trading for Ramsey would be communicating with him and his agent first right? Like, teams don't just trade for players without talking to them first. Especially not for big deals

Use your brain The Raiders were offering a contract the player would agree to. The team doesn't to go through with a trade just to be once again saddled with the player when he refuses to report to a new team. It was in both parties' interest to send him where he'd actually report for work.

I agree with a few other folks here though. At the minimum you want a player of equal talent or potential and roughly the same age at a position of need. If that's a TE, OT, OLB, WR or QB plus a first round pick? Great. If not? [BLEEP] off. Walk away from the table. WR and QB is good. Minshew is a baller. DJ Charke is like a AJ Green. Just need OT and Guards and a quick versatile RBs like a Alvin Kamara and trade away the prehistoric north/south runners of Fournette and Armstead for 7th rounders. This offense is gonna rack up yards and points. Even if he can't contractually, he can still tell a team that he will not report, in which case they'll have given up a lot in exchange for a perpetual headache. I still think the right answer is to keep him, play him and readdress the issue with him in the offseason after the coaching/GM/whatever change is made. Unless Marrone pulls off a miracle, his ouster is a foregone conclusion. Make Ramsey stick around the rest of the year, see how he feels about the new power structure, see if there's any interest on either side in a new contract, and then trade him if not. It's not like his trade value will tank between now and February, and in February we would know exactly where the first round pick we get for him in 2020 will be. Trading him now is going to be minimizing his value because it's well-known how much he wants out, and that's going to prompt teams to lowball, and because Caldwell is an idiot he'll take it. If we trade Ramsey during the season, Marrone and Caldwell are both gone. Caldwell for striking out in the first round yet again, Marrone for being unable to handle Ramsey and losing the locker room in some part because of it. I still think Coughlin survives. Who knows if he said unprompted in his interview that he'd keep Caldwell and Marrone, or if he was told that one of the conditions of the job was that he keep Caldwell and that the team really couldn't afford to hire Josh McDaniels? Marrone and Caldwell are toast, Coughlin gets a chance to hire his own coach and (maybe, if he wants one) GM. Ramsey's future is tied to what he thinks of the new power structure, what they think of him, and how willing he is to remain long-term. Bringing a player like Ramsey back into the fold would do wonders for this team. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Does this team even have a FB anymore? Do they even carry one or use one in the offense? Fournette lacks vision but he does have great speed once he's able to get free and build up steam. If he can't do it on his own they need to scale back the guess work for him. I don't care if it's a twin TE set in a heavy run I formation with a FB in front of him or a trio of TE's working one side of the field with one lined up in the half position. If it's more effective than running out of the spread formation? Do it. That's what bothers me about this team. Especially the offensive line play and scheming from the backfield. The tinhorns are not exceptionally good at anything either. They're horrible in pass protection. But the right scheming and play calls allowed them enough wiggle room on the ground with Hyde in the line up and it was enough to keep them alive and ahead in the game.
