Jets cut Kelechi Osemele after having shoulder surgery Friday. “Motivation alone is not enough. If you have an idiot and you motivate him,now you have a motivated idiot.” Jim Rohn We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Cause they also fined him for saying he could play when he was hurt. And now they released him.

The only reason to get the surgery now is because his contract ensured he was going to be cut after the year. He wants to be ready to sign a new deal. The Jets did what the Jags needed to do, but they were hoping to salvage the relationship. Osemele went to 3 specialists that all said his labrum was torn off the bone and needed surgery.
You guys realize that trying to play through a torn labrum is what ended Boselli's career early, right?
Im on the players sude with this one. The Jets staff were trying to force a player who is hurt to play as well as enforce fines for missing practice and games.

He chose to have surgery to be ready for next season on another team. The Jets know he won't be on their team, so they don't want to pay him on IR. They fined him up to the allowed amount which is his weekly game check. He didn't play and voluntarily sat out. If you did the same thing at work, it would be a leave of absence at best and not getting paid. If he wants the surgery, fine, but don't expect to be paid. Sent from my SM-T820 using Tapatalk
Was he scheduled to be a FA? If so they miss out on a potential comp draft pick.
If your boss told you to come into work sick, and assigned you work that made your sickness worse, and refused to pay you if you didn't show up, you'd have a lawsuit going.
This one's easy: It's the player's body, the player's career, and a diagnosed issue. I don't know where the Jets get off telling him he can't fix the problem the way he wants to. Now, they can cut him for any reason they choose at any time in the NFL, so I don't really have an issue with that. But telling him he can't have control over medical procedures on his own body is beyond unethical. I'm betting Osmele wins his grievance - easily. Yeah. I'd wager on the side of the player and player's assoc. lawyers. for this one. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Not a great look for the Jets franchise. Trying for force an injured player to play and then fine and cut them when they get the work done? Not going to inspire a lot of FA or star players to stay or sign there.
