We have a franchise QB

I also think Monken and Kitchens have inadvertently hindered that offense by getting away from things they did well in 2018. The way they choose to use their weapons is sometimes baffling. Any "doubts" about Minshew's ability to be a franchise QB are all based on his draft position.
"Well, he's a 6th Round Pick, so he can't really be that good." He's far outplayed any QB drafted in the first round the last two years and has shown more ability to read defenses, improvise, and throw with accuracy than Mayfield has. And let's add poise, leadership and charisma to that too. Go with what you see on the field, not the principle of draft position and pedigree. Baker was great until an entire offseason of tape was studied and people know what to do with him now. The thing for Minshew that you have to ask is can he transcend his tape? It'll will get dissected hard this offseason. Guys that can, those are franchise QBs. Guys that can't, those are flash in the pan guys. So I think the jury still has a lot to weigh before saying this is the future. In the mean time I'll just enjoy what he's doing for us now. The knock I'm hearing on Mayfield (by some 'experts') though is that he is a 'one read quarterback'. Minshew absolutely goes through his reads...to a fault at times. ![]()
I've seen Minshew make throws that very few QBs can make and he makes a lot of them.
Opposing defenses can't just take away Minshew's quick release, ability to go through all the reads, and insane ball placement. My doubts are based in whether or not he can clean up a few distinct aspects of his game. Draft position be damned. Doesn't matter. When he's contained to the tackle box, I need to see his ability to make 2, maybe 3 quick reads and get the ball out in under 3 seconds. He's struggled with this at times and he'll need to be able to overcome that. When he's feeling pressure repeatedly he sometimes gets to jittery with his feet and looks to leave the pocket early. He also will occasionally force a ball into coverage with lackluster velocity due to throwing off balance. How much of that stuff is just a rookie being a rookie? Or will some of it become a stumbling block for him as opponents learn his tendencies? Can't really know for sure right now. For the record - I feel strongly that he is very likely our QB of the future in Jax whether Foles gets back behind center this year or not. And I really like the kid. JW was/is a legend. Asperger's aside, she's a good person. She's still around under a different name. Got tired of the allusions to her autism.

I just don't see how you can bench him.
Outside of salary, there's really no reason to put in Foles. If the boat is uh rockin, don't bench Minshew.
