But the Panthers owner David Tepper has come out on more than one occasion and expressed strongly that he will not tolerate losing/medocrity. And he may feel that this is a big step in trying to make this team better.

I do think that overall Ron has done some really nice things for this team, he did make the playoffs almost half the time he was coach, he coached them to a Super Bowl and Cam was an MVP underneath his tenure. I also thought he did a pretty nice job earlier this season when Kyle Allen first stepped in and the Panthers were rolling and on a streak. But unfortunately they haven't fared so well lately, with four losses in a row, two being to bad teams. And it looks like the owner really wasn't liking what was going on and decided to make this decision.

I couid definitely see Ron getting another HC job somewhere else. But I wonder where the Panthers goes from here. Earlier on this season when they were rolling and Kyle Allen was playing well, there was speculation that they may move on from Cam. I remember a lot of people including sports analysts predicting that Cam would be on another team next year. But lately Kyle/the team haven't played as well and now I'm seeing discussion that maybe they do try again with Cam next year.  Maybe they are hoping Cam will come back healthy and they will try with him once again.

It's ultimately as you pointed above regarding David Tepper. He stated not too long ago publicly after that loss to the Packers in Green Bay that he wasn't going to tolerate losing and mediocrity. This is him living up to his word. Some of us may not like it or agree with his method. But it's his team. His method.

A new, cocky inexperienced owner. Hedge fund guy, so ego comes with the territory. Much like Jerry Jones. Jones an excellent businessman, but delusional regarding football decisions.

Agree
This looks like a power restructure that Rivera wasn't onboard with and Tepper decided to pull the cord early

A big reason he was fired was due to Tepper being insistent on heavy use of analytics and Ron doesn't really believe in them to that degree

I posted on another thread last night or this morning that I thought Rivera was better suited to DC rather than HC. After watching his press conference, I've changed my mind. He'd definitely be an upgrade for us and have us competing for division championships every year.

He should hire Tom Coughlin to oversee football ops for him

It'll be interesting to see who they hire and how they handle the QB situation. Newton hasn't been the same since those injuries added up but it's not like Allen has improved that much.

Brutal games against the Falcons and 49ERS [Which is fair] and then a loss to the Redskins has fans wanting Newton back in the line up.

Would make a good DC at Jax. Would bring back solid fundamental D. You won't see LB's and Safeties constantly playing out of position.

"So looking for these big bulky defensive end-type players is no longer relevant. What you’re looking for is you’re looking for the Brian Burnses of the world. I just thought he did some really amazing things. You have to find the sideline-to-sideline guys who can play every down."

Would love to see what he could do with Yan and Allen in a 3-4 or a more hybrid defense

Barring something that changes before the documents are signed, Ron Rivera will be the new HC of the Redskins. Despite the fact that there's still an opening for the key front office person in the organization.

And apparently wants Del Rio as DC. I've been wanting us to make that move.

Another name I have heard rumored for the DC position is Steve Wilks,  who was Ron Rivera's DC with the Panthers before a 1 year stint as Cardinals HC.

Quote:Ron Rivera will be tasked with changing the culture in Washington and the coach has taken first his step.
Rivera has had the ping pong table removed from the locker room, along with a shuffleboard table.

Weird...i feel like i have already seen that before...

Quote:There’s no ping pong in the locker room on Tom Coughlin’s football team.

Coughlin, the Jaguars’ new front office boss, has always demanded a businesslike approach on his teams, and so it’s no surprise that players confirmed today that the ping pong table that had long been in their locker room has been removed.
