At what point do we put an asterisk by the Patriots Super Bowls?

#1

I understand that most bend the rules in this league to gain an advantage. It’s how the NFL works. However, at what point are we going to hold the New England Patriots and Bill Belichick accountable for repeated offenses?

From spygate, to deflate gate, to another potential spygate, and many other bizarre incidents in between.

I have never seen an NFL franchise get accused of ANY of the things that I’ve seen New England has. At what point do we have to start speculating that their historical run the last 20 years might very much be the result of cheating to gain an advantage on Sundays?

Starting to look real fishy to me.

I have been for years as far as I'm concerned they're cheaters caught multiple times... They can't be trusted and they don't get a bit of credit from me

And no in my 45 years I've never seen an NFL team get accused and caught doing things to Patriots do.... And if all teams were doing it why aren't other teams getting busted... And let's be honest.... We keep getting told the Patriots are the best at everything... So now you're going to try to tell me the Patriots are just bad at cheating.... Don't think so

I think deflategate was way overhyped. If you fill footballs at the prescribed air pressure, doing it in a room that is say 72 degrees, and then take them outside where the air is 40 degrees, it will reduce the air pressure in the football. That's obvious.

Secondly, this latest "spygate" is much ado about nothing. If they were really spying on the Bengals, do you think they would do it so obviously?

So, would I put an asterisk by the Pats' Super Bowl wins? No.

Your wayyyyyyyy more lenient than me.  The bengals taping incident is just funny to me, but rule changes during a game are a huge red flag.  Cheating scandals are another.  I've never watched a great team, in any sport, have calls that literally alter the game in order for them to remain competitive.  I'll take a bad foul call to give a star player 2 points, a bad strike call, a bad offsides in futbol.  The Pats are just the first league made dynasty i've ever witnessed or heard about.  If greats like Mcguire and Bonds had asterisks put on there careers, the Patriots dynasty gets it with flying colors and its not even close.

How many free swings at the plate did those 2 get, bad homerun calls, etc.  No excuses for these pansies. Hell i hate the Yankees but respect them more than i'll ever respect the pats

They get 3 asterisks from me.
Spygate (they were cheating for years and got caught in 07, you could reasonably put an asterisk on all of them prior but I wont)
Deflategate (the cover up was obvious, doesn't matter how much it helped or if it helped. Cheating is cheating and once you're caught, you get an asterisk.)
Beastmodegate (they lose if the [BLEEP] Seahawks just run the ball from the half yard line) This isn't for cheating... it's an asterisk just to say, the better team lost through no fault of the Pats.

But really..... 6 SBs in 9 appearances.... with cheating or not... they've still been a really good team most years that have been coached really well for almost 20 years.
And if they're taping Bengals to get an edge over that bad team, I just feel bad for them at this point... they're desperate to send Tom Turrific off into the sunset with another SB win and it just ain't happenin'.

I think the astericks crowd is mostly jealous. Pats are an all time great team with Brady and Belichek, just enjoy watching greatness while you can. And I think they are done. I don't think Brady is coming back next year.

This latest cheating scandal is much ado about nothing.

Yes, it's improvement, but it's Blaine Gabbert 2012 level improvement. - Pirkster

Way over hyped?? They literally had footage of them taking the balls after the refs approved them....they have texts of the guy calling him the deflator....and on top of it Tommy boy smashed his phone.... and spygate was to do about nothing!!!??? Wow Idk what to say about that.... clueless I guess

No not jealous...just don't like cheating...and they aren't scandals if they were caught and admit they cheated....aka spygate....it's not the first time... It's multiple times... You guys are gullible as all hell...

They get an asterisk for the [BLEEP] calls from refs that got them to a couple Superbowls.

Exactly!! it's all part of it...  year after year Time after Time....listen they say it's virtually impossible for a team to do with the Patriots did... Or do that is.... That should raise red flags especially with the amount of cheating they've been caught doing

Jealous....Are you blind bro.  You can literally google patriots cheating and find articles on articles on articles.  I can be lenient tho.  It did hurt my feelings when greats like Mcguire and Bonds were given asterisks for their careers. They weren't on my fav team but they were some of my favorite players in the game.  I can understand if you just like Brady and Bill that much.

It has nothing to do with jealousy. You can acknowledge both. Very good team, that also has been found cheating more than any team I've ever heard of in any sport.

Got like a Lance Armstrong thing brewing here. Maybe time to wipeout all of the Patriots records from 2000 to current.

It's happened for less.  At least PED's don't help figure out playcalls and make refs eager to throw flags on important drives during the game.  Heck steriods, to my knowledge, doesn't help figure out which pitch is being thrown next or help with getting an in play vs foul ball call.  Maybe some people are just holding the NFL to too high of a standard.

Honestly I think Goodell is in on it also....he is good or besties with Kraft....he loves new England...hell even has a house up here in Maine....this whole dynasty started back when he became commissioner....I mean it really started when the raiders got robbed....the league decided it would be such a great story to have the pats go to the super bowl the year the trade towers went down....I mean I fell for it at the time...I was like holy crap....the Patriots win the Superbowl after the trade towers...how patriotic!!! Now looking back.... what a fix....toooo convenient....and now somebody has something on someone that has kept it going....all I know is something smells

I was having a laugh about this very thread with a friend. The best comparison i can agree with for Goodell and the patriots is like Vince McMahon and Stone cold back in the day. Everything's fire and brimstone to fuel the fire for more ratings but in the end, it was all scripted to help both in the end. This is really the NFL WWE edition.
