Staff & Front Office Speculation (merged)

This franchise is so backwards and does everything wrong. Khan will probably give both an extension at the end of the season. If he keeps these losers around, I maybe done for next year.

The only argument I can make for keeping both Marrone and Caldwell for one more year, is simply because of Foles and his awful contract.

We're flat out stuck with that garbage for next season, no matter what. I think that's going to really limit any good HC candidates. Who in their right mind would want to come here knowing they're going to be handcuffed and stuck with Foles for the year.

Let Marrone/Caldwell get one more year with Minshew/Foles. Let them have a legit QB competition to be the starter. If it's another loss season, you dump everybody and start fresh. New FO/Staff/QB etc. Wont have to worry about being handcuffed to a bad QB like a new staff would be next season. They could come in, draft their guy at QB and go from there.

These moves (or lack there of) have to make us the front runners for Trevor Lawrence next year, right?

The only other interesting tidbit I got was that not everyone in the building thinks it is the right move.  Sounds like there are some who have been trying to convince Shad to reconsider.  Obviously can be narrowed down as most folks in the building are tied to Caldwell and Marrone.  If they get fired, a lot of people will most likely be swept out with them.  But needless to say, doesn't sound like it is unanimous.

Oh, how I hope your source is wrong! I don’t know if I can invest another year in a hopeless situation.

An email is being sent on Monday afternoon to the top Jag employee on the business side if they don't make changes. I won't give up my tickets right then but they will be informed that I won't automatically renew.

Everyone needs to call their ticket reps on Monday and say they haven't heard any news on firings and until they do they won't be renewing.

If Khan keeps Caldwell and Marrone, it can only mean he is gunning for the top pick in the 2021 draft.

But we have 2 first round picks in 2021. We don't need to tank on purpose. We finally have the ammunition to move up to get a franchise player that we target. Keeping Marrone and Caldwell really doesn't make sense on any level.

I can only speculate - but I tend to think Khan is more ready to make changes than what is suggested in those two or three speculative articles claiming otherwise.

I only do this once or twice a year because everyone hates the "I know a guy" guy but every Xmas when I head back to Jax, we get together with a family friend who is close to the situation.  And was told that unless Shad is intentionally misleading folks in the front office in order to keep things a secret, it's a lock that Marrone and Caldwell are back next year.  So not breaking news but the hopes that the reports are wrong don't appear to be the case.

I'm curious about the underlined part.  How many people in that building have the opportunity and the gall to go into Shad Khan's office and tell him he's wrong, and that he should fire a couple very high ranking people like DC and DM?  That part doesn't ring true to me.

Shad Khan has got to fire Caldwell and Marrone. We need a clean break from our issues with player contracts, player development, and discipline.

We can all say we have had enough, we just can’t take it anymore, but deep down, we all know it’s not true. Jaguars football is like an addiction, we can’t get enough.

I'm seriously thinking about not renewing if Marrone is still there. Even though I love the Jags, I can live with watching them suck at home, I don't know if I can in the stadium.

I'll say I'm pretty confident there is at least one.  But not sure who the others might be if there are.  As I said above, I gotta think a lot of people in that building are tied to Caldwell and Marrone so there cant be that many who want them gone.

Anyways was surprised about that report saying Marrone is a goner.  I know others in the media have said it isn't true.  But admittedly, got my hopes up!  I'm rooting for a clean sweep.
