I told myself when the team was sold by the Weavers with only a 5 year clause that the end was near if we didn’t get a new stadium/renovation. I distinctly remember Vic talking about that being the reason for teams moving in the past. But that’s not reality anymore. Teams move to increase their value now. The rams did it, the chargers tried and failed, and the jaguars look to be next.

He is a scum bag owner. Not all owners are about $$$. Pure greed. Games in London do nothing for Jacksonville but hurt the owners and workers at the stadium.
He just doesn’t have any loyalty to Jacksonville. That’s the main difference between Khan and local jags fans. I admit that I already decided I would still remain a fan in a more distant capacity if the team moves, so I think that’s part of why I am not mad anymore. I accepted it several years ago that the jags were likely to move when the London home games became permanent. Heck, I started a thread on this very topic a couple years ago and people downvoted and yelled at me for it. I think the best way to deal with it is to enjoy the time we have with the jags now, cause there is a real possibility we won’t have games to go to in the future in Jacksonville. All good things must come to an end.

The London games or International series link with London has some contracts ending this year. Our contract to play at Wembley stadium finishes this year. The leagues contract with Wembley stadium ends this year but they signed a 10 year contract with soccer team Tottenham in 2015 to host 2 games a year. The league also agreed to host games in more international locations.

I believe London will host 4 games next season. We have 2 of them now and I think theyve already said Miami and Atlanta will play home games. So London will be 2 of the following teams

Colts, Texans, T*tans, Browns, Miami, Detroit

So I dont think Miami will play twice so I'm guessing a division game and the Browns.

So with our London contract ending and Wembley stadiums contract ending this year, I think the NFL are trying us with 2 games out of 4 to see if the demand is there for Jags games or just NFL games. What Khan decides here will be the big indicator of what he ACTUALLY wants to do with the team. He has to make a decision regarding London this year.

I'm not sure what playing a second "home" game in London can prove. It will sell out regardless. All the London games have.

But I suppose it could reinforce the NFL's belief that one team could eventually play a complete season there. They'll probably want to increase the number of games from four too.

Whatever, I think Khan has to make a move to tie up another Wembley deal soon, because other teams will be circling and I don't think he can rely on a gentleman's agreement giving him "first dibs" any more.

It's possible he could switch the games to Tottenham post-2020, but given the choice, I'm sure he'd prefer to have the games played at Wembley - purely because it has a bigger capacity.

Its going to be interesting. Nobody seemed interested in committing to London when it was first announced, I'm not sure how many teams would sign a 5 year commitment.

The games always sell out but that's not usually down to the teams. Last year I remember our game against Houston was the last to sell out. I've said before the idea of a London team is fantasy, it just wont work and there isn't the demand for one team, fans enjoy seeing 8 different teams play and for some maybe their team.

Khan has to make a decision with renewing the London contracts. I see this as a test balloon. How does 2 games go down with the fans. Let's not forget that 1 game was going to be enough to keep us in Jacksonville and lets not forget Khan trying to buy Wembley stadium.

Hes throwing a lot of mixed signals.

Sure it will. The team will just have to move home games in the months of October-December to London to allow contractors ample time for construction. Don't worry, Jacksonville will keep two games in September and the two preseason games, and season ticket prices will be cut by an additional 10% to make up for it.

This is some keeping up with the Joneses going on as we head to the next disappointing CBA. London isn't viable for an NFL team full time because of Visas and all of the logistics that goes into it. Now it probably just got easier with Brexit stuff and the possibilities of the continuation of stronger economic partnerships and trade deals but there are still many hurdles that can't be cleared. Jacksonville is a cheap home base with some advantages in transportation and travel. This is a win/win for the owner but Stockholm syndrome for the fans.

Honestly when an owners meeting occurs, you don't think they hammer Shad on his revenues? These are very, very, very greedy and massive ego people gathered together who don't care about the fans in any of these cities. It is rare to have someone that understands the community connections and awesome relationship that these franchises represent. You contrast that with the man of the year award and that is the bright spot of what having an NFL franchise means to a city.

Welp, at least three of my tailgating crew are done.  We were already down to 10 last year from an original number of 20+.  They may have helped me make up my mind.  Hell, I can still go.  It's not like tickets are going to be hard to get on a game by game basis.

That is funny

I heard Harry and Meghan are contemplating moving to downtown Jacksonville if we can get Lot J done.  They're looking for a good public school system for their child.

The part that really annoys me is Shad having the audacity to say that winning is still the number one priority. If that were true the announcement yesterday was that we were eliminating the London games period. It's telling that he thinks the fans are as stupid and/or gullible as he does.

Personally, I like the ticket ratio better now.  6:1 versus 7:2  ----- I really hated paying for 2 preseason games.  Now, we essentially only have to pay for 1 which is a much better ratio than the rest of the league (8:2)

Really?  I have this funny thing where I like to actually attend all of my team's home games.

you can still attend all of the Jaguars home games.   Norwegian Airlines has a direct flight on their new 787 Dreamliner from Orlando to London for $400.  I just flew that route and must admit, it was quite nice.

2 back to back home games in London + the bye week that follows is 3 weeks right there.. Then you have to add into playing away games the week/s before and after the London games/bye. You're up to 5 weeks at minimum right there and that's the best case scenario.

I'm glad I don't live in Florida and have season tickets cause I'd be really pissed. Especially since it's cheaper to just buy tickets week to week anyways.

Even then though, I'm fairly annoyed/upset about this.. Living on the West Coast, waking up at 5-6am on Sunday to watch a trash team play a stupid football game is not something I want/like to do. I sure as hell don't want to do it back to back weeks.

I'm not sure why, but I started laughing as I was reading this.  Delirious from this cold maybe...  Trash team and stupid football game pretty much sums up the last decade or so around here though.
