Early Mocks...Post and Debate

The only way the Jaguars get Kinlaw is if they take him at 9. As far as Okudah goes, if the Lions pass on him he could very well be on the board for the Jaguars. Hypothetically, what if Okudah, Simmons, Thomas, Kinlaw and Herbert are all on the board? Personally, I'd try extremely hard to trade down to a team desperately wanting Herbert. It's doubtful Caldwell would do this since his job is on the line, however. Of the remaining players, Thomas would have to be the pick due to the importance of the position combined with Robinson's lack of progress.

As Jaglou said, its unlikely but if Okudah fell to 9 it wouldn't be as crazy as Josh Allen falling to 7 or Jack and Taylor falling to the 2nd round.  The combine is still to happen so if he still needs to kill that if he wants to be a top 5 pick.  Kinlaw is less likely to make it to 20. Dont fall for all the mocks, one of those guys you dont think will be there will, happens every year

We need OL, DL, DB, and LB more than we need a WR.

I don't doubt Lamb's ability at all. I just don't think our roster needs and state of our current franchise warrant a high pick for WR. I once thought we should possibly draft a guy like Jeudy at 9 but was convinced by others that our guys currently rostered have enough speed and gain enough separation that WR really isn't an issue.

Late round guys like Van Jefferson or mid round guys like Claypool/Pittman are probably better picks for value.
I stand by my statement... if it's me, I'm not taking a WR at 20 with a bigger need elsewhere on the team not being met (OT, OG, CB)
I don't necessarily disagree with you but for me, the value with Lamb at 20 would be too great to pass up. He's a top 10, possibly top 5, talent and at 20, he would be a steal.

I'm not advocating taking just any WR at 20 but if Jeudy or Lamb are there, I'm taking them and not thinking twice.

Hear, Hear.

value at WR will be offf the charts this year.

I'd rank them
Thomas
Okudah
Kinlaw
Simmons
Herbert

Getting a call from a team only a few spots back would be ideal and leave us in position to probably still grab on of the top 3.

If we stay put, I think normally you take the OT... but I've been hearing that NFL people/scouts aren't as high on Thomas as media/fans so who knows...

I got a bad feeling that the Jags are very content with 4/5 OL. I bet they try to upgrade RG and that's it.

Look for pick 9 to be Okudah, Simmons, Kinlaw or Brown. Pick 20 to be secondary or WR. This is just my thought.

Robinson definitely needs to play better... But I'm kinda willing to not flame the FO for not replacing him. I think 2nd year fully removed from ACL injury he should improve. Add to it that Taylor was actually worse at giving up pressure and sacks (and should improve) I wouldn't be mad at them going OG (at 20 or 2nd round)
I also wouldn't be mad at them drafting a stud LT and moving Robinson to RG.
Who knows what their board is looking like though. April can't come soon enough.

You may be right regarding their views on the offensive line. Personally, I value this position group the most so if the scouts really love Thomas he'd be my obvious choice. However, we know what happened to Luke Joeckel so if they have any doubts about Thomas they need to take one of the other 4 you mentioned. All these guys have the potential to be impact players as early as their rookie year like Josh Allen.

This mock has us getting Brown at 9, Ruggs at 20, and the CB with a name I can't spell in the 2nd. It makes a ton of sense to me.

The more I think about it, the more I suspect we will go DT at 9 (Brown plan A, Kinlaw plan B), and CB in the 2nd round (where we are pretty much guaranteed a good prospect to drop there - PFF has 9 CBs in their top 35 players I think). The 20th pick could be between WR, OL or LB possibly.

I think if Thomas is there at nine and he's seen as an upgrade on Robinson, they have to take him don't they?

Not sure about some of the other top OLine prospects, because they've either got limited LG experience or they're projected to be guards.  But maybe one of them could be taken with the 20th pick if Thomas isn't there.

Brown/Kinlaw and Ruggs is awesome.

My latest mock from walkthemock.com for JAX via Default ranking

1:9 - DL Javon Kinlaw, South Carolina 2nd best DT should help run game while also adding pass rush from interior
1:20 - OT Tristan Wirfs, Iowa instant starter at RG
2:10 - LB Patrick Queen, LSU MIKE
3:9 - CB Bryce Hall, Virginia Competes with Herndon for #2 role
4:10 - TE Albert Okwuebunam, Missouri Add to TE room of James O and Oliver
5:19 - WR Marquez Callaway, Tennessee Developmental WR who caught pretty much everything at UT
6:10 - EDGE Alex Highsmith, Charlotte developmental edge rusher (gotta have insurance in case Yan doesn't stick around)
6:27 - RB LeVante Bellamy, Western Michigan (scat back, every team needs one)
7:9 - NT Bravvion Roy, Baylor (big body IDL... not sure he's actually available in round 7 though)

Depending on who we cut we wouldn't have to make a lot of moves in free agency. Maybe signing some of our own FA depth guys back along the OL and DL. Making making a signing at FS as this draft just doesn't have a ton of really good prospects at that position.

I really like the 1st 5 picks. They meet the team's biggest needs basically in order of importance:

Kinlaw: Not the run-stuffer that Brown is, but very explosive pass-rusher from the inside.

Wirfs: Can be an all-pro guard, but also a fill-in at tackle if needed.

Hall: Some mocks have him as a late first rounder. Great value.

Queen: One of the top 3 Mike's in the draft. Move Jack to outside and hopefully strengthen 2 positions.

Would even be better if Brown falls to pick 9, but this is a very solid draft.

Another excellent draft. Jaguars get the best cornerback, top 2 wide receiver, 3rd best DT and maybe the top swing center/guard in the draft in the 3rd round. Bryant can be an upgrade as a receiving tight end.

I really like this guy at nickel corner or maybe even at FS. A playmaker and will lay people out.

This is horrible. Nothing done to upgrade either line in the first three rounds?
