What's next for Michael Vick?

#21

Quote:Why not here?
Because he's an aging, injury-prone QB with a history of felonies and an ego the size of Wolfson Park (is that still there?). Henne's a better fit at this point.

Quote:Just saw that Shaun Hill is a FA too, this would be another guy I would take a look at if we didn't get a QB in the first round. Not as good as Vick, but he has been better consistently than McCown. Would be an upgrade for us.
I've liked Hill as a backup for a long time, but not so much as a starter, even of the temporary variety. I don't think he has the physical measurables to succeed in the role, even if he's got the moxie for it.

Quote:Surprised by how many people are pro-Vick. I guess this board isn't entirely full of people who'll say "No thanks" to any single move regarding a controversial player in an attempt to come off as a conservative armchair GM.
Vick is a convicted felon with a history of utter disregard for life. The fact that he's allowed to own any dog again, let alone a Belgian Malinois (a breed that can be trained to be violent), is a joke. I don't want him within 50 miles of Jacksonville. I don't think he should be within 50 miles of any NFL stadium. He should have been banned for life after killing dogs by drowning or electrocuting them, engaging in dogfighting (illegal gambling) and lying to federal investigators about it. His career should have ended when he was convicted, and to this day I don't know why he was ever reinstated.

Even if that's taken out of the equation, I don't think he's worth the trouble for the Jaguars. As I said earlier, Henne's a better fit for the build of this team, even if he's not quite as mobile as what you'd think of as the ideal Bradley/Fisch QB.

Everybody is aging.

Just because a player is not a long term solution doesnt mean they are worthless.

His ego? He was actually a very supportive teammate of Nick Foles, so....

Vick paid for his crimes. People need to get over it. People want to hang him for dog fighting, but some of those same people will condone killing babies in the womb. Makes sense.

I think the biggest barrier is that they have a commitment to finding a long term solution and he's not in the equation.

Too bad, because sometimes you need short term help while you're going through that process.

But then, I suppose there's also something to be said about sticking to principle and not getting sidetracked.  Like him or not one would think we've got Henne as a fallback and wouldn't have to learn the offense from scratch.

Really, what's the worst that would happen?  We sign him and we strike gold with a young QB, not ever needing him to play... nothing wrong with that.  I think for most people (but not all, obviously) his past is behind him.

In the end, I think they'll stick what they have as far as veteran presence but I'd hope they would consider other options.  I doubt anyone will be beating down Henne's door so he may be too cheap not to keep.

Did that sentence really just happen?

The biggest issue with Vick is that he's just not very good anymore, and it makes much more sense to keep Henne than it does to sign a washed-up QB who, even in his prime, never lived up to expectations.

In your entire unintelligent rant you never mentioned his skills as a player. You just talked about dogs and ego. If your biggest issue is that he isnt good, why not start with that?

The statement I made is true.

Well, then there's always that guy.

THERE IS A SKELETON INSIDE OF YOU.

You know why not here. David Caldwell said form the beginning he will not rebuild this team with free agents. Any free agents he brings in are just to fill gaps until somebody can be drafted. And with a top five draft pick, it is a no-brainer we don't need to put off drafting a quarterback.

Can't do dogs.  What about an attempt at [BAD WORD REMOVED] (rooster) fighting?

Eagles fan here. It would be pointless to bring him in. Vick will look great in spurts but is made out of glass. It is just a tease especially if he pieces some games together where he isn't injured.

What do eagles have to do with roosters?

Confused,

Vick's body is beyond worn out.

I dont even think he is backup material anymore.

People forget Vick has been in the league for about 13 years now.

I'd rather pass on him here but I do wonder who will take a risk on him, Oakland was the first to come to my mind but who knows? He could land as a back up any place really.

As long as it's not here.....

He was overhyped to start with coming into the league, obvious character issues, injury prone and he turns 34 this summer.

We need to move forward; he'd be sideways at best.

He is a turnover prone, falling apart QB who can't read a defense to save his life. If you want to argue the point look what Foles has done with the exact same offense. I don't think he can add anything to this team, I would prefer we grab a QB in the first or second round and develop for the future.

I'm just thinking Oakland. Seems like a place he would end up. If he could stay healthy, big if, he could be worth a shot here. Couldn't hurt. Anything to get shoo out Ghenne

Only way I would want to see this happen is if we draft manziel, which I don't think is happening and say bye bye henne and sign Vick. Allow him to teach manziel how to protect yourself or you'll end up like me lol

There is absolutely nothing I want Vick teaching our rookies.
