QB odds

His actions are of someone staying around for another year or two. He's rebuilding. I want to say they won't take a QB in RD1. But if Tagovailoa somehow slips past the Dolphins and Chargers and he's there at 9 there will be a conversation. Yep. It's a pisser. Marrone has left a lot to be desired. My biggest issue with him is the inconsistencies along the offensive line. That's his background. That's supposed to be where he cut his teeth in the NFL. Yet, damn near every year one of the major concerns we all have is just that. The inconsistency along the offensive line. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? And we had the same thing with Bradley. The defense was never good under him, and he was supposed to be an elite defensive coordinator. At least Coughlin brought a consistently strong offense to the table most years he was here, and Del Rio's defenses were usually quite stout.

We have been so long without the guy i would take one high every year until you get the guy. Qb is that important. Is Minshew the guy, i would say that isnt proven yet. If you end up with two good ones you can always trade one, id say if Tua is there 50%. Who cares if a qb sits for a year. That used to be the norm. Let Minshew play to prove himself or not prove himself. If he does grt if he doesnt put in the other qb for the last seven games. I wouldnt let the weird and still unknown offseason affect my strategy. Only one of them can start. It's not so much a matter of someone sitting, it's wasting a pick on a player who won't have any impact on the team's performance. Of course it's great to have a talented backup, but not at the cost of another position of great need (and we have a few). If they believe Minshew is the guy, then they ignore QB, at least in the early rounds.
When you get into the endzone, act like you've been there before.
My opinion, you always take the accomplished, talented QB unless/until you already have an established franchise QB on the roster. Look at the list of great QBs the Jags could have had but passed on.

That means every team who had a rookie QB starting last year has to draft another one, because none of those rookies are established franchise QBs. Is Kyler Murray an established franchise QB? Daniel Jones? No. So according to your rule, the Cardinals and the Giants have to draft another one this year? Is that what you mean? My opinion is, if you have a QB on your roster who has a chance of becoming a franchise QB, you build the team around him. You don't waste another first round pick on a QB unless and until you find out for sure you don't have one on the roster. If Tua is available at 9, the Jags would be foolish to pass on him. Saying that picking a quarterback with a pedigree like Tua's would be a wasted pick is ridiculous.

There's nothing wrong with that opinion; I'm just arguing with your rule that unless you have an established franchise QB on your roster, you should spend a high draft pick on another QB. Suppose we draft Tua. After one year, do we know that we have an established franchise QB on our roster? There's no way to know that after one year. So then if we follow your rule, we would draft another one the following year. Lather, rinse, repeat. When do you stop and allow your young QB to develop, by supporting him and building a team around him? Again, if you think GM is not the guy and Tua would be, there's nothing wrong with that opinion. It's the rule you made that I'm arguing with. (04-13-2020, 07:56 AM)The Real Marty Wrote:(04-13-2020, 07:41 AM)zrxmike Wrote: I like GM but he has a small chance to ever be a franchise quarterback. I am simply stating my opinion that if you are not 100% (or close) sure you have a franchise QB that your drafting objective should be to get one if you have the chance. We have had several chances that could have changed this franchise. Unfortunately, we blew it! Is Tua a sure thing? Of course not, but he certainly has a body of work that says he very well could be.
