QB odds

What are your odds Caldwell takes a QB in the first round?

And if your odds are above 50%, which QB not named Joe do you think he will be?

Sexton is on a crusade for the Jags to move up and draft a QB. Every article / video / whatever on the Jags site he seems to be going on about it. It does make you think, does he know something we don't?

But still, I agree with NYC... I just can't see it happening.

I really think picking a QB in this years draft would be a complete waste, unless Tua falls to us.

Every other QB in this draft (including Burrow) is not NFL caliber IMO.

I just think Tia will fall and they'll have to take him.

That's what made me think to come here and post my thought.

Doubt it. Would Caldwell want to hang out with and divulge secrets with someone that hyper? Dave seems very laidback and not prone to chilling with that type. It's like oil and water.

I second that. If no one really excites you, don't reach. Tua doesn't excite me. He made some nice throws in a stacked offense, but he's not going to get that protection at the next level, and he's going to get broken again. Love is Bortles 2.0. Up and down, mobile, but maddening. Herbert is Mariota 2.0, albeit bigger and stronger. He seems kind of tentative.

20%

Possible, but unlikely.  It depends on how they really really really feel about Minshew.

If I was running the Jags, I would not do it.  I think as long as there's a chance that we have "the guy" we have to refrain from confusing the issue by taking another guy.  I would take this season to build the team, and see if Minshew can be a franchise QB.

The only guy they'd consider would be Tua if he fell to 9. The chances of that are about 1% and I don't see them trading up to get him. He's a great prospect, but also injury prone so I would be totally against trading up to get him.

I agree with you that Tua almost certainly won't be there at 9, but the uncertainty surrounding this draft, and Tua's medical red flags, do at least leave a possibility that he falls.

I say draft a qb if the one you love is there. We have been so long without the guy i would take one high every year until you get the guy. Qb is that important. Is Minshew the guy, i would say that isnt proven yet. If you end up with two good ones you can always trade one, id say if Tua is there 50%.

The problem with that is, if you draft another one, then you have two unproven QBs, and you can't know if either one is the guy unless you give him a shot as the starter, and that means you can't find out about the other guy.  Only one of them can start.

The other thing is, there probably won't be any offseason practices this year, and maybe very little training camp, so they will have to concentrate on preparing one guy.  The other will sit and you will have no idea about him.

I'll say 15%. If Tagovailoa falls to the 9th spot I think a conversation will take place. While I don't think he'll fall there nor do I think this team is willing to trade up to gain him. His potential is there. And If it weren't for the hip injury and I think the knee or ankle issue history he would be competing with Burrow to go number one overall.

I think his comparison to Russel Wilson is fair. He has the ability to create plays, escape from the pocket and when he's healthy he's shown that killer instinct intangible to come up with a big play downfield when the team needs it. Hard to find guys like that.

Caldwell and Marrone SHOULD have their [BLEEP] on the line this year. And I don't think they can afford to fail at all. But if Khan gave them ANY hint that they'll be here regardless of what happens in 2020? Taking a QB there to compete or save their [BLEEP] going into 2021 makes sense. They'll fall back on this pandemic as well as another excuse.

But that's the problem. Nobody has a [BLEEP] clue what Khan is doing in that building anymore.

Between Coughlin's situation and the news about Marrone losing his job, then it being quickly retracted? Just reeks of lack of accountability and leadership overall. It's bothersome.

In the first, none. I have seen Love mocked to the Jags at 42 a couple of times and while I still wouldn't take him I could underestand if Dave thinks that is too good of a value to pass up.

Late round QB's I think it's realistic to think they might take a shot at a QB like Steven Montez, Cole McDonald & Kelly Bryant.

Marrone is probably coaching for his life. Caldwell? Well, he's been dumping veterans for picks. A GM under heavy fire would usually be doing the exact opposite.

That's my concern right there. Caldwell's actions are not of someone looking to make quick upgrades for the better. His actions are of someone staying around for another year or two. He's rebuilding. I want to say they won't take a QB in RD1. But if Tagovailoa somehow slips past the Dolphins and Chargers and he's there at 9 there will be a conversation.

With Gruden and McAdoo in the building now it's not outside of the realm of possibility that if this team is 0 - 4 going into October that Marrone is fired and replaced by one of those guys. More than likely Gruden since he has the most experience at head coaching between the two. It'll be interesting. This is one of the few times of the year where it's exciting to be a Jaguars fan.

Speculating on who the next coach will be. In April. Yep, this is why I keep on being a Jaguars fan.
