The left likes to play "identity politics".  It's already apparent when Biden already committed to bringing on a woman as a running mate.  It's not going to be because of qualifications or being the best person for the job, it's going to be solely on the gender of the running mate.

Many guesses right now think that the selection will be Kamala Harris, not for her qualifications, but because she "checks a couple of boxes".

Biden also said that his cabinet "would reflect America".  Again picking persons not for their qualifications or being the best person for the job, but because of their skin color or gender.

Honest question, because I don’t know... when McCain ran and chose Palin as his running mate I was still in H.S.   Politics were, let’s say, not what was on my mind.  I never heard of her until that point.  I understand she was governor of Alaska or maybe just a senator then.  At the time, I just thought that’s the same thing you are describing.  McCain from what I recall was the underdog and then announced Palin as running mate, I kinda laughed it off (not knowing who she was and her having decent looks) thinking that’ll get some votes. Good for him. Nice choice.  Although, your point remains.  That’s not the norm for the Republican Party.  And I can be way off.  I didn’t know much back then.

Being female was part of it. McCain needing a conservative to balance out the ticket was another.

McCain was a pretty smart guy- knowledgeable, articulate...   He needed someone who was the opposite of that to balance out the ticket.

People who were in the room wrote books about it after the 2008 election was over.
McCain had only met Palin for about an hour and spoken on the phone a couple days before for about the same amount of time.
He had no idea if he was getting a conservative or an informed person or what.
Her resume checked all the boxes for the campaign managers - youngish, female, Washington outsider - all the foils that they wanted for their old male candidate who had lived in Washington for like 30 years already. But most of the managers had not met her in person.
Everyone kind of expected McCain to do the hard work of figuring out whether or not she knew what she was talking about, and how she would hold up during interviews, and he kind of thought his campaign managers had already done that for him.
My fellow southpaw Mark Brunell will probably always be my favorite Jaguar.

Joe has the blessings of Bernie and Obama now. I guess his candidacy is official.

He's like Bob Dole and John McCain now.

Wuuut? Reddit says Trump will be imprisoned and then we will all join hands and sing in debt-forgiven harmony under the benevolent reign of President Biden and Vice President Sanders.

Obama should have mentioned in his endorsement that Biden is clean and well-spoken.

That’s racist?

I'm sure the endorsement of a former president who is solely responsible for a reality TV star being elected as president carry's a lot of weight.

Wait, it wasn't Hillary's emails or the lamestream media?

I think it was solely the hideous Hillary! candidacy that did them in. Between her awful personality, terrible track record, the Media beatifying her, and the Super Delegate mess with Bernie, national fatigue with Obama himself is probably much further down the list.

I agree, to an extent.

I also believe that Obama's noticeable lack of campaign support for Hillary was a substantial contributor to her losing. It may have been so late in the game that what campaigning he did was too little too late, but I'd caution those people thinking the US had Obama fatigue to be careful of overconfidence. If nothing else, Obama can absolutely rally voters and Joe is a personal friend...not so much Hillary (actually not at all). Bernie dropping out this early and easing a segment of the #WriteInBernie idiots away from the ledge will make things difficult with 7 months to go. It won't be like last election at all, which seemed to be a DNC cluster from the get-go all the way up until the debates, disenfranchising dem voters in the process

FWIW, I also don't believe Bloomberg is done opening his checkbook. Like Trump, his ego is pretty fragile.

Does anyone else find it odd that the allegations against Biden are not being breathlessly reported by the MSM the same way the allegations against Justice Kavanaugh was "reported"?

<Putting my BLT hat on> I am pretty sure that this is a ploy by Bernie Sanders supporters to attempt to bring Biden down.  I'm also thinking that it's a "roundabout way" to have a contested convention in the Democrat party where somebody else (perhaps Andrew Cuomo) is the eventual democrat nominee. </taking my BLT hat off>

The hypocrisy of the far left media has gotten so far out of control.  It was evident that Dr. Fauci was clearly annoyed by a CBS reporter basically asking if his statement was his own or if he was directed to make it.

Thank you for that honorific, jib. I don't mind being associated with speculative thinking, but can't get the picture out of my head that you're wearing a sandwich on your head instead of the traditional tinfoil hat.

LOL.  I would never wear a bacon sandwich on my head.   Laughing

Of course I was referring to you (our resident conspiracy theorist).  However, in my mind the conspiracy that I presented is very possible.  Others may disagree.

Now let me look for that Reynolds Wrap that I asked my wife to buy.  I need to make a hat (though it's aluminum foil).

This is more plausible than most would care to admit, and more likely than they'd care to think.

I will admit I never cared for Joe Biden or his politics, but his current state elicits pity. He is being used by the Party so they can pick their preferred choice to run against Trump. The poor man should be in a home until it's his time to go.
