3-4 Defensive look finally happening?

Gotta admit, the first thing I thought of when clicking on the thread was stopping Henry.

If our personnel fits better as 3-4, I'm all for it.

people overthink the 4-3 vs 3-4 thing way too much on here. still base of 2 edge and 2 interior + on nickel will still be 2 edge and 2 interior , just more looks and packages like they did last year. Should expect the new blitzing numbers of the past season to continue also

Wash has video of Doug Marrone trying to open a jar of pickles. That's all I can figure.

Everyone has done more 3-4 looks and variations recently.

It's not much more than making a key sub and putting a hybrid player on the field, allowing you to switch fronts. That extra player can be a pass rusher, cover man, or extra safety (or someone who could do all that) depending on the personnel.

It's nice flexibility to have, especially against no huddle teams where the need for substitution could be a liability. You just better be able to prevent teams from smashing you in the mouth with the run.

3-4 look is going to work great ...... oh yeah you didn't fire the idiot leading the defense. Good luck running a 3-4 when you can't even run the base package correctly. Do the Jags honestly think he can teach a 3-4 without ever running a 3-4 and not being able to even teach his base scheme to get the players to run it correctly?

Even 2017 they couldn't run it correctly and had mistakes. They were just better and able to usually overcome the mistakes.

It is very complex when you aren't successful at even teaching your strength.

wash being a bad coach doesn't actually make showing a 3-4 look complex , the differences between it and a 4-3 look are wildly overstated, for example we had 3-4 looks last year that worked very well. Now if you want to say Wash sucks no matter what defense we run, i would agree! but that in itself doesn't make it hard to do, plenty of not good DCs can and have used 3-4 looks successfully

Truth be told the coaching staff is probably not going to be here next year if we suck. So like many have wondered maybe Gruden becomes the HC and we get a 3-4 DC.

That’s about as official as you could get.

I guess they will have 1 more player in the zone coverage, this is going to be laughable bad.
