Most likely true. I've feared for my life and safety in the past and I did what I had to in order to protect myself. The guy was 6'7" and about 230-240lbs and I'm 5'10" and maybe weighed 140lbs at the time. He came after me (after I took out a restraining order against him) and I knocked the [BLEEP] out of him. I shouldn't have been able to, considering our size and strength difference, but adrenaline, fear and determination kicked in and I got away.

I am not a violent person by nature but if I feel threatened physically and fear for my life I will protect myself even if it means I hurt that person. Before that day I would never have thought to harm another person for any reason but fear is a great motivator to preserve your own life.

That officer, by the way, worked with the DA to get a corrupt cop prosecuted before all this happened. But because he defended himself, and you don't understand the law, now he's "corrupt". Makes sense.

It will be interesting to see how many voters in Georgia vote for this idiot DA.  I feel for the good citizens of Georgia when the police officers get acquitted (assuming that it goes to trial and they get an impartial jury).  Both the DA and the Mayor need to go.  As more information comes out it's pretty clear that these two police officers are being used as political pawns.

Yep, an acquittal and damages paid to him by the city.

Can you imagine being a police officer, doing your job, arresting a guy for a DUI who then beats the crap out of you and your partner, steals your deadly weapon and tries to use it against you causing you to shoot him in self defense, then having 11 charges including murder against you by a corrupt, racist DA trying to save his tail, then being thrown in jail without bail?

If you ever think you are having a bad week, you aren't...

Guessing a cop had sex with your wife while you were out of town.

The cop's stepmother was fired from her job because of her "association" with him.

This comment proves that you know jack [BLEEP] about what's going on in Atlanta. Yes, the DA is a corrupt idiot who's using this to get himself re-elected (my previous theory about it being to boost the mayor is wrong). He knows he's in trouble, and he's banking on this not going to trial before the election so he can run stump speeches about how he's protecting Atlanta or whatever.

The mayor, on the other hand, is about the only mayor of a real city that was able to get the initial riots under control after the first night, and keep riots and looting more or less under control throughout after that, right up until an officer very questionably shot Brooks in the back. Contrast that to Minneapolis, where the mayor took days to even think about trying to control things, or LA that had several days of riots. Philly, too. Aside from her bizarre pseudo-firing of the chief of police, it's hard for me to find a real misstep on her part after being caught completely off guard by the first night of protest--a mistake she responded to in force on the second day and thereafter.

TBQH, she's the only effective political leader in the state of Georgia right now. Kemp has looked ineffective, at best, for months now, to the point that the entire Atlanta metro (including the very white, very rich parts) has been taking its lead from Mayor Bottoms, not the governor. But if you choose just to see the color of her skin and the (D) after her name before doing your usual routine, hey, your problem, not mine.

I think Governor Abrams is doing a fine job as well.

I really hope she never becomes governor. Far too far left for me. Bottoms, on the other hand, has proven fairly moderate to somewhat left, and not the type to overreact in the way lots of Democrat politicians are prone to doing.

Way to make an assumption about me and why I think the mayor needs to go.  I'll give you a hint.  It has nothing to do with gender, skin color or party affiliation.  It's about the knee jerk reaction of firing an innocent police officer.

Oh, I mean, given how much you love to make assumptions with similar conclusions to whatever others have to say, I figured you'd appreciate it. But, hey, if the rules are that you get to make blanket assumptions about people without actually processing what they wrote and no one else does, cool.

Is this the killing in which the trial is set to commence in October, 1 month prior to the Election? Thought that was a little peculiar timing.

I agree that the police should not have military vehicles. The policy of the federal government giving police military vehicles was started before Trump, and before Obama (who had eight years to stop it but didn't). Biden was a big proponent of this.

However this is another issue that has nothing to do with race.
