There's a better than average chance that I won't do it now.  Quite frankly, now that I've really been looking around the area, investigating houses, looking at the office...I really am not thrilled about the area.  It's almost Atlanta-esque as far as traffic, roads, congestion, and just pure number of people crammed in.  My daughters are not real happy that I'm having reservations...but hey, I have to do what is right for me.  I feel bad that I may upset them.  But that can't be the reason I make a decision.

I go back out on 7/1 for another try.  We'll see what happens.  I'm not feeling very positive about it.

I think maybe I've just gotten used to the small town mentality around Jacksonville.

I'm actually going to look in some cities close to DFW, but staying out of the DFW metroplex.  Denton seems nice and is rated 'one of the best places to live in Texas'.  Other recommendations were Duncanville, Lewisville, Cedar Hill, Garland, and Plano.  But these will all mean a 25-30 mile commute.  But bottom line, I'll still have to deal with the horrific traffic and crazy interstates (and interchanges).  It was [BLEEP] crazy last weekend.  And this was a weekend...with COVID restrictions still in place...and there were still traffic jams on the interstate.  It made me shudder to think about dealing with that on a daily basis.

I'll be going out again from 7/1 - 7/6 (which I already had planned prior to any job offers).  I'll try to keep an open mind.  The problem is, I already know what I know.

My Bff lives in the Dallas metroplex area and is always complaining about the traffic. There are a lot of people living there for sure. I enjoy it when I visit her, but I can’t say it’s my favorite place to be that’s for sure.
