Monroe Traded

Quote:I tried to tell you that this team was being cheap. The evidence is in your face and you keel defending them. The same person who reported the trade also reported 3rd day picks. That's a pretty credible source of you as me.

Is a top 10 LT worth "multiple 3rd day picks?" Considering the fact that just by letting him walk in FA we were guaranteed a 3rd rounder.

Not to mention the fact that we literally just wasted the # overall picks to replace an already GREAT LT.

Keep defending the front office. New faces, same results.

In Caldwell I trust.

I'm not defending anything. I'll wait to judge the trade once I know what they received.

The reports maybe right, they maybe wrong. Point is I don't know. What I do know is Shefter has been wrong multiple times so yeah, I'll wait till we have factual, 100% verified information.

I already criticized Caldwell for not taking a RT in free agency and drafting a LT if your only intention was to replace an already good LT. It would be counter productive. Nice try though.

Quote:Would it be easier to replace Monroe with at best a 4th round comp. pick, or this trade?

Um non of the above? Money talks and we had the cap space to sign him or franchise him.

THIRD DAY DRAFT PICKS!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!!?!?!?

WHY DOES THIS TEAM, NO MATTER WHO IS RUNNING IT, ALWAYS DO THE DUMBEST THINGS!?!?!?

so the plan all along was to draft joekyll and let monroe walk, THUS PUTTING US IN THE SAME POSITION AS BEFORE, BUT SAVING A BIT OF MONEY!??!?!

i honestly cant handle this team anymoore.... i really cant.... this fanbase doesnt deserve this, criminals dont deserve this

this team will be moved soon, and frankly, at this point, i dont know how upset ill be being able to justifiably pick a new team

Quote:Wow.  I just got to ask why?   Hopefully atleast a 2nd and a 3rd.  Caldwell Stocking up on draft picks.  Any takers for lewis?

Baltimore either made Caldwell an offer he couldn't refuse or just a dumb mistake.  Now we have to find another RT althought it doesn't matter much this year.

Because Monroe wasn't going to resign? Because you get value now before he gets injured. This was a great trade!

I foresee Caldwell trading away the 1st overall pick in the 2014 draft for a 3rd round pick, and 2 5th round picks in 2014 and 2015.

Somehow we will be told it was a great deal for Jaguar fans because we could get 3 players instead of 1.

What do you mean? We replaced Monroe in the last draft.

Quote:The latest report I read is the trade is for a 1st and 3rd round pick.

But that can't be true, because so many Junior GMs on this board say the Ravens would not be that stupid. And I certainly rely on you guys, who are so incredibly easily played.

So many crying about responses from so many. So many suckers.

I hope that report is true, a 1st and 3rd would be a great move for us!

where did you read this report?

I only have a problem with this trade if we got fleeced IE multiple 3rd day picks.

<p class="">AIf Monroe deal to Ravens goes through, that means Joeckel era at LT begins Sunday in St. Louis. <a class="" href='https://twitter.com/search?q=%23jaguars&src=hash'>#<b>jaguars</b></a>

<p class=""><a class="" href='https://twitter.com/ryanohalloran'>Ryan O'Halloran ‏@<b>ryanohalloran</b> </a> <a class="" href='https://twitter.com/ryanohalloran/status/385223378946121730' title="7:03 PM - 1 Oct 13">37m</a>

<p class="">Joeckel will be moved to left tackle tomorrow by <a class="" href='https://twitter.com/search?q=%23Jaguars&src=hash'>#<b>Jaguars</b></a>, which leaves right tackle to, maybe, Cam Bradfield.

<p class="">Monroe trade essentially means Caldwell views a UFA or draft pick as better option than re-signing him to big contract. <a class="" href='https://twitter.com/search?q=%23Jaguars&src=hash'>#<b>Jaguars</b></a>

And all the reports out there are that it's 3rd-day picks only.  Not because of the junior GM's on the board but because of something someone who has more information than most said.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Quote:4th rounders and lower rarely make long term impact.

If its multiple 3rd day picks, the trade is a bad one.

I was hoping for a 2nd + a 3rd, and I thought that was a bargain for Balt....considering 25 year old proven OLT's don't grow on trees.

Yeah I understand what your saying, but I feel like once we grab the franchise QB (Teddy) then we have 10 other picks to build around him. I like Monroe, I think he is very good, but the more picks the better for right now.

I think more trades are coming....

Eric, what picks did we get? Do you know, because no one on this board does either. God, can people not wait till we know before criticizing?

Quote:We definitely weren't guaranteed a 3rd rounder for one. Those are pretty hard to get. It's possible that he would have netted the last pick of the third round, but probably more likely that he would've gotten the last pick of the 4th round. Dave got multiple third day picks...probably a 4 and more. Hard to say that is worse.
Compensatory picks are based on how much a player signs for and playing time. There's little doubt he would have fetched top 10 Tackle money on the open market and would have been a starter on his new team.

That is a 3rd round compensatory pick.

I thought it was a terrible move and Caldwell was tanking us. You have more mood swings then a hungry pregnant chick.

Monroe would have netted the highest possible compensation pick, which would have been a late 3rd or possibly 2 of those.

Plus, had the Jags franchised Monroe and then traded him at that point, you might have found a desperate trading partner.

Maybe I'm just overrating how good Monroe actually is.....I dunno.....

Moroe would of left anyway.  At least we have our future at LT, if we didnt draft Joeckel we would be looking for a LT and RT in this upcoming draft

The latest news is that MJD was discovered hiding in Monroe's luggage.
