Had some luck in first few years of existence, but since then, it's pretty much been every 10 years like clock work. 2007, 2017. So going by that, we should be set for another good year in 2025-2027ish. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Hoping those 14 year old kids arent too obsessed with Fortnite. We need them for our SB run! Saw your post earlier about having a good O and D. Since 2014, it's been one of the other (except 2018 when we had neither). I hope I'm wrong, I'd love nothing more to eat humble pie in January but I just cant see it. Just hope they let Minshew play. Find the right run/pass balance on 1st and 2nd downs. I'm just worried that our Offense will be solid this year, but we'll still lose multiple games by scores like 28-34 (us - them) final score etc etc, because our Defense isn't going to be able to stop anybody. I think our Offense will be able to put up some points, but I have very little faith/hope in our Defense. We're basically a Josh Allen injury away from this Defense topping out at 15-20 total sacks on the entire season.

Dude lost a lot of $ the last 2 years no matter the finer details of the offers made prior. He better hope he has a monster season, or he better get used to 12 mil or less per season. He has no idea just how dumb settling on 12 a year could be for him.

OK, so he still took a 6 million pay cut and a shorter deal, if he does not have a good year or gets hurt, he'll cost himself even more down the road. Don't kid yourself either, it's always directly or indirectly about the money. How quick we are to forget the "I can't feed my kids" bs from his twitter tirades. What does 25 years of anything have to do with Yan and playing on 2 million vs taking a 3y/60+ mil deal to settling on 1y/12 mil? You're so miserable in your fandom, just pick another team man.... 15 other teams in the league have an all time win % at or under .500 This whole saga allegedly stems from being offered a "disrespectful" contract from Tom, which rumors had it the length and money were an issue for Yan's side. That deal would have paid him more this year than what he took, as would the tag. I don't care how you slice it, stupid or not, he objectively took the worst possible offer. While making a very risky/poor decision on his future earnings. Its clear his(and your) thinking/hatred for the Jaguars is irrational, and hes certainly within his right to feel that way. As far as we know, he did objectively chose the worst possible outcome financially for this year. Period.

Yan giving up that much money makes no sense. There are no guarantees that he'll get a monster contract next year so he's just passing on $6M out of spite. I'm personally glad the saga is over and that we'll have more draft capital for next year. Rooting for the Vikings to win the SB and get that 3rd rounder!
Yeah, this saga is an example of someone letting their emotions get the best of them. Objectively would have made more with less risk by staying.

Don’t root for the Vikes to win the superbowl. We want that second rounder as low as possible.
Ideally the Vikes take an unexpectedly huge step back, but Yan achieves individuality and earns a probowl nod. High second next year, tbd 2021 4th round pick. Higher value than the last pick of round 2 and tbd 2021 3rd. (08-31-2020, 08:31 AM)rufftime Wrote: Don’t root for the Vikes to win the superbowl. The Jags are in such a state right now, that I won't be surprised when we get the top pick of the draft, the top 2 QB's don't declare because of a canceled college football season. I'll just be disappointed. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

This is a results-oriented business. There are no trophies or titles given for "moral victories" or for "winning the draft". Our record with DC is 37-86. 6-10 is our 2nd best season in 8 years of Caldwell leadership. These are the FACTS.

I can't see either of them back next season without some unexpected results on the field. Owners cut coaches and GM's loose more often with one year left on their deals than they do have them go into a season with a one-year lame duck contract. There could be mutiny if they don't produce this season and return.

But Caldwell and Marrone are not acting like they have to win to keep their jobs. They're acting like they have 2 years to get something done, not 1. All this clearing out players and building cap space are not the actions you would expect from a lame duck GM and HC. |
