Yannick trade potentially just got better

#21

Yan has to make the probowl for any of this to happen.

I don't think he is having that kind of year.

Yeah man.  He was ranked #2 qb in fantasy pre draft.   Dude sucks in getting fantasy points.

fantasy points mean a bucket of farts in late January games. What the heck does that have to do with their chances at a SB?

I'm not alleging DC was some dastardly mastermind when formulating the terms of this deal, but assuming the absolute worst is offset by assuming that Dave knew teams like BAL were also making offers, or expressed interest, but didn't equal Minny's offer, and he added the clause to prevent Yan from getting shopped around once he renegotiated his deal.

Again, not saying that is the case, but it's just as plausible as him adding a one-liner to a deal and snickering with Shad and Tony behind closed doors.

This is a results-oriented business.  There are no trophies or titles given for "moral victories" or for "winning the draft".  Our record with DC is 37-86.  6-10 is our 2nd best season in 8 years of Caldwell leadership.  These are the FACTS.

Well, he’s top 6 in sacks and leading the league in forced fumbles. He’s having a better year than you think.

He is tied for 14th in sacks and has 2 FF which is half as many as the actual leader.

His last sack was 4 games ago and his last FF was 6 games ago.

He is on pace for 10 sacks, 22 tackles and 4 FF.

That doesn't get you in the prowbowl unless about 10 guys decline to play.

No one is going to decline to play a game that's already been cancelled. So he's going to have to get the vote and be among the best.

Lol this thread is so salty against last year's MVP.  If we had Lamar we'd be such a better team.  I like the Ravens chances this year...not Lamar's fault that he lost an all-pro LT and a HOF G to retirement.  That'd make any QB regress and yet his team is still 6-2. 25-5 as a starter...how can you hate that. Just infuriates me cause he could've been our QB.

We would have turned LJ into Blaine Gabbert.  Our coaching staff would not have adapted to his unique skillset so we'd be posting what a bust he's been here with the Jags.

I don't know what to tell you. Teams are figuring out the Lamar Jackson playbook. Eliminate the big QB run plays and they are just average on offense. The overall record is a team record. Last year they had one of the league's best rushing attacks with Jackson and 2 other RBs getting big gains based on the option rpo game. The defense has also been very good over two seasons.

Not trying to say he's a scrub or anything but I can easily see Jackson being an afterthought in a few seasons if he doesn't improve his skills within the pocket. I've been largely unimpressed so far this season really.

And to mention the missing an all pro LT and HOF G... well we don't have those here, so let's not pretend like he'd be lighting it up for Jax necessarily. Would he be an improvement over a couple of 6th round draft picks? Probably... would we be instant contenders? Doubtful.

His record is what it is because of his defense.  Last year they set a record with 11 or 12 Pro Bowlers on the team.  As Kane said teams are starting to figure him out.  He had the luxury of having the best LT in football and a HOF guard last year which hardly no other team in the league has.  I'm glad we didn't draft him though because I would take Fields, Lawrence, or Trask all over LJ. They still have a chance though because of their defense

That's the thing...teams aren't figuring him out. He just an all-pro LT for the season and Yanda (an HOFer) retired. Lamar definitely needs to improve his throws outside the numbers but he's working a miracle in Baltimore with tier 2 WRs and one solid TE. Imagine Lamar with our weapons on offense...we'd probably be undefeated right now.
