No thanks. I'd rather roll with Minshew still at that rate. Especially with that god awful contract.

With that contract? Naaahhh....

Honestly, even without the contract I'd probably pass.

He seems to be going foul with the Eagles. A few years ago he was considered upper echelon. He's struggling this year but hey...everyone goes thru that.

I have less faith in a draft pick than a free agent! At least a free agent, you've seen them perform in the NFL. Does it not work sometimes, sure, but I think that has more to do with system or personnel. As in Foles, I believe he MUST have a team with TE.

What yall say about Wentz?

I could get behind the idea... it would largely depend on what's going the other way for me. if it involved a 1st or 2nd rounder this year, id hang up immediately.

Yes, it's a $32 million per year contract that goes through 2024.

The Eagles are stuck with him.  No one would trade for that contract.

I’d literally rather have Foles back than him. His regression in some of the worst I have ever seen in NFL history. Definition of a guy that stinks.

Remember though that Philly already paid the bonus and they keep that share of the deal, so if you trade for him you are only covering the salary and bonuses on your cap.

Even with that considered, the price tag is WAY too high for what he brings to the table.

Whomever built him, sure as hell did a great job considering how bad he sucks now.  Looking back , that was pretty amazing that Wentz was leading the Eagles to the best record in the NFL and when he got hurt, Foles came in and looked like Tom Brady.  [BLEEP].

Right now, Wentz has no pocket presence, he always gets hurt, and he's way overpaid.  Other than that, he's fine.

Nobody built him. His throwing motion has always been wonky. He was pretty good anyway. Then a torn ACL in 17 and a cracked back in 18 has caused him to lose most of the mobility part of his game. Then the Eagles OL is trash.

I'm not saying Wentz is good. But Reich couldn't build Jacoby Brissett. We shouldn't give the coaches too much credit or blame. Sometimes guys are just good. Sometimes injuries derail them a bit. The team around the QB matters (and right now the Eagles roster is not good, especially up front and at WR)

Wentz seems to have lost his nerve, and he's ridiculously expensive.

I saw that it was reported that Jalen Hurts will start this Sunday's game over Carson. Does this mean it's the end of Carson's time in Philly? I don't know. Maybe not. But this doesn't bode well for him at least right now. We'll see how Jalen does and if he may get more starts going forward and what ends up happening with Carson. If the Eagles moved off of him I do think he could end up eventually getting a chance to be a starter for another team. Though, I don't think that the Jags would be the best fit for him.

SportsCenter on Twitter: "Breaking: Doug Pederson is naming Jalen Hurts the Eagles starting QB against the Saints this week with Carson Wentz as the backup, per @AdamSchefter and @mortreport. https://t.co/QMB1oGtAgM" / Twitter

Is there any other team that can afford him?

Not saying it's a good idea but with the cap going down I don't think too many teams can afford him.

Jaguars need to draft The best OT first pick, and acquire either Wentz or Darnold. Or draft TE Kyle Pitts with the first pick and get the best available oline with the 2nd first rounder. Or trade down to get Pitts and the best available olineman. We gonna be good.

Wentz reminded me of Gabbert the other night cringing in the pocket, scared to get hit.

He's been absolutely mauled behind that awful OL.
People think ours is bad lol

Some of it is on Wentz... but I don't think his time in Philly is over. Might as well bench him and protect that expensive investment. Let him heal up, fix the line and try again next year.

Here's something interesting.  This article says that if the Eagles trade Wentz, the cap hit is $28 million, but if they keep him, the cap hit is $34 million.   So I take back where I said they are stuck with him.  I was thinking it would be a bigger cap hit to trade him or cut him than to keep him.   But apparently, it's the other way around.

Still, no one is going to trade for that contract.

He's set for life and only had to play 1.5 decent seasons. He's crying all the way to the bank.
