Anyone else warming up to the idea of Johnny Jaguar?

Quote:He didn't against LSU and Missouri.

He can't play defense too.

And yes, I know he wasn't very good against LSU regardless.

Quote:Having a couple of bad games in 2 years isn't a big deal. There was also talk that he had a thumb injury at that time. Johnny is a playmaker. A better playmaker than Tebow and also has the ability to throw the ball. I would be happy with him.

I don't dislike him as a prospect. But the "it factor" is laughable as a reason to draft him.

More than laughable, its patently absurd.

Only the kiddies believe that foolishness

I don't think Manziel will be that great in the NFL.  I think he'll never reach his ceiling.  I don't think he's worth a pick at 3, and I think he'll end up a bust.

That said, if we draft him I'll still be excited.  Bortles, Bridgewater, or Manziel.  That'll get me excited.  Until there's a QB on the roster that's not garbage-tier, this team is going to be difficult to watch.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Manziel is definitely intriguing if anything. But then again, so was Vince Young.

Who is worth the 3rd pick if Teddy and Clowney are gone and you can't trade back? Anyone but Manziel would be a reach.

Manziel would be a HUGE reach at the 3 spot

Get Mack or trade back

How would Watkins or Mack be any bigger of a reach than Manziel?

Based on productivity of what he's done. Numbers don't lie. 'Bama is as close to an NFL defense in college you'll probably face. I'd love Watkins but at 3 it might be a reach considering this class is so loaded with WRs and that's one of the positions we're better off in. Not to mention he's good but not AJ Green or Julio Jones good (yet anyway..). Mack is top 10 good but is he top 5 good? I'm not sure. The only other players who probably wouldn't be a reach is Jake Matthews or Greg Robinson.

I'd say that is really debatable.

I agree it is. Green/Jones were also picked 4th and 6th. Is Watkins 3rd overall a reach? In a deep receiver class?

If Caldwell is destined to take a QB with the 3rd pick, the best one to win ball games today is Bridgewater. However, I don't mind Manziel as a pick for the entertainment and "fun factor" that he would bring to viewing the games.

If the guy lacks confidence in throwing a ball at the combine, then no

People say this is a deep WR class.  Anybody have an idea of receivers we may pick up in later rounds?  We need speed and height.  I'm guessing if they pass on Watkins they go for a big tall receiver in the later rounds.

Everybody wants speed and height.

Speed is not a big issue for quarterbacks. Sure, it helps, but the 40 time is not a deal breaker.

Russell Wilson proved height is overrated. What really matters is large hands, and Johnny Manziel has that.
