College playoffs week

Can’t make an emotional decision when it comes to your franchise. I still think T Law is the better long term option for a pro style QB.. I’m just hoping he declares for the draft. If he does, I’m glad they lost, I wouldn’t want him taking the kind of hits he did in this game again. Whoever was calling plays for Clemson is an IDIOT. “Yeah, let’s run our best player with slightly above average speed on read options up the middle” idiot coaches. Hopefully T Law declares and we will have our QB of the future secured.
Fields outplayed him, no doubt. But the NFL isn’t about emotional games.. it’s about a body of work over time and who gives you the best chance to win consistently, and I think that’s Trevor. We’ll see what happens. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
I think 9 out of 10 chance that Trevor declares. If not, then I agree take Zach Wilson.
If Fields puts up a similar game against Bama and wins a championship, that would make things pretty interesting.
This changes nothing. Lawrence is still hands down better than fields. Anyone who lets this game shift this is either stupid or worked in our front office( probably both)
But with our past track record for hiring personnel and knowing our absolutely idiotic owner, we will probably now increase our push to hire Dabo and draft fields first overall....#becausejaguars We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
As bad as Clemson got destroyed, Trev still had 400 yards passing and a couple TDs. With no run game and a oline that got dominated by Ohio St dline

There’s no question for me about #1, but if Fields puts up a similar game.. I don’t know how you could say Wilson is the clear cut #2. Unless you are just choosing to ignore big games.

This guy hates Fields and will keep his.heels.dug in, don't bother. Fields could be 40/40 for 800 yards and 9 TDs in the Alabama game next week and all.he will do say that he had a lot of time and his receivers were running wide open and how he won't be a good pro, ect. He's probably the most stubborn poster on this board. I believe fields is going to be the number 2 QB off the board come draft day. Fields had a good game last night, but IMO he is Haskins 2.0. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! The guy has already won a national title and knows he will be the number 1 pick. What does he have to gain by returning? Even Dabo would tell him to go pro.

Despite this, he came within a yard in a half of leading a tremendous comeback. Fields will light you up when he has a sqeuaky clean pocket, like he had all night against Clemson. When he is pressured though and his first read is covered, he falls apart and starts forcing the ball. He did it against Indiana and Northwestern. One gigantic game against a far inferior Clemson team that got no pressure and was dominated on defense, doesn't change what I saw all season. I don't draft based on what a QB could be. I draft a QB based on what I see now and what he has shown he can do on the field on a consistent basis. That's just how I project guys. I'll take consistency over one monster game, any day of the week.

Fields had a 41:3 TD to int ration last year and has completed 74% of his passes this year. That's pretty damn consistent. Also we all know it's against better competition than Wilson. Fields has played at a higher level for a higher time. Your reasoning for not liking Trey Lance because he had only 1 year of production and against lower competition. And yet you're in love with Wilson who has done basically exactly that. Last year he had 11 tds and 9 picks and completed 62% of his passes. You love to twist things in a way to fit your narrative.

When it comes to a QB, this is a "what have you done for me lately" scenario. I don't care what Fields did last season. I'm looking at this year and his consistency has wavered. That's not good. I evaluate Wilson the same way, but unlike Fields, Wilson made a huge leap and got consistently better at everything. I want to see improvement from year to year and that is what Wilson did. You can complain about level of competition all you want, but I see the arm talent, athleticism and most importantly, the instincts and decision making I want in a QB when I watch Wilson play. I don't see that on a consistent basis as with Fields. You evaluate how you want and I'll evaluate how I do it. We don't have to agree. As far as Lance, I never said I didn't like him. I don't know very much about him. His sample size is too small. He only played one game this year and he wasn't very impressive, but it was just one game. How is anyone supposed to evaluate a QB on a one game season? I just think drafting any QB to be your franchise guy, based on a one game season is way too risky. I'm not a gambler. I look for safe picks. Lance could very well come in and light things up, but he has just as much chance at failure. I have no idea, because I haven't seen enough of him. I live in Ohio and we don't get very many NDSU games where I live. Calm down, take a breath and can we just agree to disagree and move on? Geez! We show less advertisements to registered users. This is exactly why I’m happy we are getting Lawrence.
5 months of Wilson Vs Fields would drive me mad.

Curious what is it you don't like about Mac Jones? TBH if Jones drops we can do what washington did when they drafted RG3 and Cousins in the same draft. I know we need a lot of talent in other positions, but I like Jones a lot. Not sure where he's projected, but I would gamble and take him also.

Lance is going to wind up closer to Fields and Wilson than Jones and Trask.

That's just how I project guys.A month or two ago I posted a youtube link to a cut up of all Wilson's throws against Coastal Carolina. And I thought he looked a lot better than you would you think considering the outcome of the game. Dropped balls, crazy plays that put their offense in long yardage downs, his INT was a hail mary at the end of the 1st half which is meaningless. And they run an offense that is very RPO heavy at times which doesnt take full advantage of his skillset. As far as the Lawrence / Fields debate, I'm still on the Lawrence bandwagon for the first pick in the draft. You have to give Fields credit for playing a great game. He really needed it after the stinkers in his two biggest games this year prior to that. But I think the concerns about him are still legit though. Ohio St was clearly the better team last night, ran the ball at will, and dominated Clemson's offensive line. It was a game Fields should have excelled in. Lots of time to throw and open receivers. If the roles had been reversed though where Ohio St couldnt run and Fields was getting pressure on at least half of his throws, would he have been able to put up the game Lawrence did? Or would he have had a game similar to the one he had against Northwestern? ________________________________________________ Scouting well is all that matters. Draft philosophy is all fluff. |
