Since when did the HC give final word on who is drafted?

Leave it to the Jags to change how things are done. Nothing would surprise me. Normally, a GM is hired before a HC. By all indications, that may not happen. I wouldn't be surprised if Meyer was hired and was given unprecedented power by this organization. After 25 years, nothing this team does would surprise me. I'm preparing for everything.

Really hope Meyer saves us from himself and refuses to take the job. Yeah, he was a winner in college. Then he quit because it got stressful. How long will he last in the NFL? He also wants WAY too much control.

I hate the "winners" argument.  Were Saban and Spurrier not "winners" too?  They failed in the NFL.  Why not expand our search to include major league baseball managers?  I'm sure some of them are "winners".  There are major differences between college football and NFL football.  I want a head coach who knows the NFL.  Meyer has zero NFL experience.

Harbough and Jimmy Johnson certainly had success in the nfl coming from college. Kingsbury hasn’t been horrible either as of yet. I am not advocating Meyer but it certainly isn’t impossible.

Thinking back to the high number of times that posters here have speculated about coordinators being in line to take over for a HC, this moment may be the one wherein such a scenario makes the most sense. 

Since Meyer would be hiring the coordinator, it's unlikely to be approached/planned that way, but wouldn't it be nice to have faith in one of his coordinators to be able to step up should the Meyer experiment falter in one way or another?

Meyer doesn't force a 2nd tier GM, but it may hurt the options. Khan will probably want someone who is open and flexible, but if someone doesn't like Meyer then they probably don't take the GM job. You only take the job if you are comfortable with the HC that has already been hired. That shouldn't mean Meyer has all the power, but he definitely has has more initially because he was hired 1st.
