Trump wants to create new political party

#1

I see this going the way of The Reform Party

Trump wants to create new political party

President Trump reportedly wants to create a third party once he leaves office.
According to a report Tuesday evening in the Wall Street Journal, citing “people familiar with the matter,” Mr. Trump has discussed creating a “Patriot Party.”
The discussions have happened with “several aides and other people close to him,” the Journal reported.

Patriot party is a poor choice of names. Not that it matters.

This would be really interesting, not so much from a presidential standpoint but from a House and Senate standpoint, They could do some real damage to the system.

The GOP deserves to be destroyed after the lack of fight they just out up to voter fraud.

Who wins if the GOP is fragmented? Might as well donate directly to the DNC.

I've seen comments about this in other places. Many Trump supporters are for it. Hopefully they're not the extremists who call themselves his supporters just to get attention.

I wonder what this party's policies would look like. Interesting subject to discuss.

I will not hold my nose and vote for anybody who stood by and let this election get robbed with voter fraud. If there are better options, I will vote for them. Patriot Party could win several seats that vote with GOP on issues they see eye to eye on.

If Trump does this, the GOP is finished. They can't survive with 75M voters gone.

Also, don't kid yourself if you dont think the Democrats are headed in the same direction. They can't survive without moderates.

Trump decisively dividing the right would be somewhat poetic. He’s already splintered them. This would be a wedge of division.

I mean, it’s not good for our nation in any way, but I’d have a selfish chuckle at it before trying to figure out how we can un [BLEEP] the situation.

They were splintered long before Trump..

See Romney, McCain, Sasse, McConnell, Jones Jr, Kemp, Ducey, Dewine, Murkowski, Duncan, ect ect..

They run on the Republican ticket and then turncoat..

It'll just be an ultra radical wing of the Republican party. Something to further divide the country. IMO, it will be the equivalent of the Democratic Socialist wing of the Democrats. Just more people moving away from the middle.

People should not think that 75 million is all about trump. A lot of those votes are for the republican party.

He should just join the Constitution Party.

Trump has been essentially deplatformed at large. It will be a struggle for him to stump. I see this idea dying quick.

Thank you. This is 100% accurate.

If Trump ran under the “Patriot Party”, he wouldn’t get 75 million votes.

A lot of those votes are anti-democrat.

I was referring to voters not politicians.  Both the RNC and DNC have moderate politicians that run as "X".

I'd wager at least 30% (probably more) of the Christian vote Trump once received won't follow him (or his ilk) over a more morally justifiable candidate from the RNC. That's a large number of voters.

This is a Democrats dream. Split the Republican Party. The party that is already outnumbered by the Dems.

The only way it would work is for AOC or some up and comer (Bernie-type) left-wing Dem to form a new party as well, splitting the Dem vote in 2024.

As I noted before, I voted Romey and GW Bush (1x) so I vote based on the candidate as I am very center as it relates to party views (e.g. pro-life, pro-environment, etc.).

So, if Trump takes the Trumpists out of the Republican Party, and the Dems go hard left, as you suggest, then all the moderates are available to someone.  And at that point, who is the moderate party?  The Republicans!   To which I say, good.
