I don't like the idea of a rookie T protecting TLs blindside.

That means you have to commit to Cam before you even take a stab at any of those other options. If you tag Cam, you're pretty much taking the other options off the table. It's probably why we're exploring Brown presently, if the deal falls through, you then have to decide whether you break the bank for Williams, or break the bank for Cam.

I guess we could always roll Cam to the right, but do you want to pay $14M for a RT? And 20-ish for a bandaid at LT? Woof.

Correct me if I am wrong, but can't teams remove franchise designations?
Before they sign it, yes. I think the Panthers did that with Josh Norman.

Why does the Venn diagram have to be two separate circles? And how do you know what Ozzie did? Without his board, you have no way to say with certainty that he was ever picking strictly by BPA or not blending value with need.

what you are describing is exactly what everyone else is saying - the best player available is a fluid ranking - a blend of need, talent, availability, and other factors. Nobody iis going in with a list of players ranked 1-400 and taking from the top every time it's their turn to choose. But you are right - if you take an OT at 25, and when 33 comes up, if OT is at the top of your board, and is head and shoulders above the rest of the guys available, the savvy GM either needs to find a trade partner to move off the pick and use that value elsewhere in the darft, or he's sacrificing value by taking a lower-tier athlete with the pick. Of course, you could get greedy and just take two of the top OT prospects and laugh at the other GMs... Big Grin

All GMs dont draft the same, some prioritize need much over BPA than others.  Do you really think Caldwell had Henderson as the top player on his board as well as Chaisson ?  Of course he will say he did but I'm not buying that.  If we didn't trade Ramsey and Yawn I dont think either would of been the pick and we most likely would have taken Wirfs and Jefferson.  You can believe CJ and Chaisson were the top guys on his board but I'm not.

I don't like the idea of Cam Robinson and Jawaan Taylor protecting either side of Lawrence. That is an injury waiting to happen. I'd try ANYTHING, to make that not happen.

It would not surprise me if Urban Meyer goes after 2 or 3 ex-Buckeyes who played under him The 3 intriguing possibilities are:

1. Malik Hooker - He'd be much less expensive than Marcus Williams due to previous injuries.

2. Johnathan Hankins - Excellent run stuffer who could be platooned with Hamilton.

3. Curtis Samuel - Has improved each season. Great speed and won't cost nearly as much as AROB, Godwin or JuJu. Also, Chark can be true number 1 receiver with Trevor.

These 3 players would likely cost a total of $25 million per year. This would leave plenty of money to sign:

4. Trent Williams - Much better than Orlando Brown and won't cost a high draft pick.

5. Jonnu Smith - Hopefully he won't be franchised. If he is, draft Freirmuth at 33.

Try to re-sign Sidney Jones, Smoot and Shatley.

A free agency looking like this would then enable the Jaguars to not have to reach on any draft pick due to need.

I really liked Hooker coming out but no way I want the Jags to sign him, the guy can't stay healthy.

Hooker has giant injury issues, but he could also have some significant untapped upside since the Colts tried shoehorning him into the softest cover 2 in the league instead of the crazy single high potential he showed at a prospect. I would rather get Williams or Johnson III, but if we wound up spending a lot elsewhere and settled for Hooker I'd be ok with it.

Yes. That.  Not necessarily those exact three, but that type of concept.

I don't want to screw around with a bunch of wannabes and has-beens.  Let's really take care of those three positions and go into the draft with lots of flexibility.

I think that’s fairly ideal for all Jags fans (especially Trent). If they can nab Trent and Hunter Henry, it’s already a top 3 offseason all time for the Jags considering they’ll also be grabbing Lawrence.

I'd be thrilled with that, but I'd like to add a FA Safety as well. There are some good ones out there.

Trent, Safety, and TE for me. If we can fill LT, S, and TE in FA it gives us so much flexibility in the draft.

Yeah, I'd like that as well but the other 3 would be first on my list.

I'd rather get Leonard Williams and draft Moehrig than sign one of the Safeties and draft dline.  It's much easier to find an impact safety than a difference maker on the dline.  Moehrig gonna be a star too

Of course I'd like to fill all the spots but that ain't gonna happen

You could put your pay Yawn sig up again as he is a FA lol

I see Hunter Henry's name thrown around a lot in people's FA wish list.

I think he has ability, but why isn't anyone concerned about his injury history or his declining ypc average?

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

I disagree. I think he'll be solid, but none of the Safeties in this class stand out to me.

I'd honestly be ok with signing Leonard Williams and still drafting Barmore at 25.

I was high on Malik Hooker coming out of Ohio State.  But I don't think he's the same player after the injury,

Hankins would be good, though I don't know enough about Samuel, TBH.

I would certainly re-sign Sidney Jones, but by no means whould his retention preclude me from drafting a CB or two.

I dunno man, dude is all over the place.  We haven't had a Safety like that here in a long time
