49ers trade up to #3

#1

Per NFL Network, the 49ers send the #12 overall, a 3rd round, and future first round picks to Miami for the #3 overall pick.

The plot thickens.

I am so glad we don't have to trade up to the # 1 overall pick.

Looks like it, though I don't fully understand the 49ers urgency here.

Garoppolo isn't that bad.  He missed that pass late in the Super Bowl, but he's not that bad at all.

Yes they did...and put the picks to use.

They just traded up from 12 to Philly's pick at 6.

So now the top 12 draft order looks like this...

1.  Jaguars
2.  Jets
3.  49ers (from Miami)
4.  Falcons
5.  Bengals
6.  Miami (from Philly)
7.  Detroit
8.  Carolina
9.  Denver
10.  Dallas
11.  Giants
12.  Eagles (from Mia via SF)

God, yes.  It's great watching these other teams battling it out for players, knowing we don't have to do anything.

With Detroit losing Golladay, Jones, and Amendola I see no way they can pass on Devante Smith in that scenario.  If they do they will regret it and I really like Parsons.

The 49ers traded three (3) first round picks and a 3rd round pick just to get up to pick #3.

Think about that.

FWIW, I was kinda iffy on Parsons to Detroit.  I put him there in part because of his 40 time at his Pro Day, and Detroit has a need at LB.

I could easily see them going Devonta Smith.

No way.  Shanahan is one of the best offensive coaches in the NFL and he has to be drooling iver the physical traits of Lance or Fields.

They are better athletes, but Jones has a much better pocket presence, accuracy and command of the huddle. Not to mention that he is pretty decent at avoiding a pass rush, even if he isn't gonna be a standout in that area. He's a much better QB than Fields and I just can't see a team trading up that high for an enigma like Lance, who has such a small sample size at a small school. I think Lance is the 4th QB selected just because of the unknown factor.

I wouldn’t be at all surprised if all the top 4 picks are QBs. (Has that ever happened before?) It will be interesting to see who the 9ers have traded up for. I think there’s a pretty big gap between Wilson and Fields/Jones/Lance. I’ve seen a lot of mocks putting Lance there, but I would rank him the last of those 3 personally

I'd bet good money that is not for Fields.

IMO It is Lance or Jones, in that order.
