Let's Talk About- Political Edition

Americans are too comfortable. Even now. No one under the age of 90 knows what hardship truly is- yet. I never thought I'd see many of the things we're seeing happen in my lifetime, and I'm only 41 years away from 90, so I have time to see some craptastic things happen if I live to 90 and stuff keeps ramping up as it is.

She was fighting them and they had to calm her down. Use a taser or punch her. Depending on the drug(s) she was on she could have done some damage to those guys. PCP is a particularly nasty drug.

So, that Duggar fellow got popped again, this time for child porn. As a teenager he molested his sisters, a babysitter and someone else. Several years ago he got busted with some chick he met on that dating website for married people. Now he's down for child porn. How many chances does this [BLEEP] get before his wife and family say "ENOUGH"?

Yep. Even criminals have a 'code' specifically when it comes to pedophiles.

Sadly that’s not really the case. My ex-con brother gave me insight to this.
Prisoners are still disgusted by it but assaulting another inmate involves doing additional time. No one wants that so pervs are relatively safe in population. They’re marginalized, but not targeted for assault.

However, prison officials are careful to keep them separated from guys doing “life without” - without parole, who have nothing to lose.

I just watched a pretty powerful documentary about the exposure of the media and Hollywood..

I won't provide the link, but if you google, you'll find the documentary available to watch for free on their main webpage..

It's called Out of Shadows and it was filmed and produced by a very well known Actor/Stuntman who worked with the Hollywood elites for year now.. It made me open my eyes a little wider.

I think we watched that two or three years ago.  I remember it being pretty unnerving.

Just looking for some outrage in the media over all these shootings.

Story

"Here’s the trail of death and destruction allegedly left by members of NYC’s ‘Hoolies’ gang

This week’s indictment of 18 reputed gang members not only solved the infamous slaying of a 1-year-old Brooklyn boy, it nailed those responsible for three more murders and a slew of other shootings, authorities say."

A local lady wrote a letter to the editor saying CRT is necessary in schools to teach white people about bias and such. Can I just say that no amount of education is going to help white culture understand black culture on any level that is meaningful. I've been taught black history, I've done my own research on black culture, heck I used to live among and work with black folks in Jacksonville every day for two years. Guess what? I still don't understand it and I never will because I'm not black. I know there is bias, but there is still bias against women that affects us every single day. There is bias against men. There is bias against every people group.

As long as there are any differences between people there will be bias. Racial, cultural, economic, educational, social, etc. We are not Stepford People.

That lady said CRT is not racist and does not teach white people that they should be ashamed of their color. Everything I've seen and read about CRT shows that's exactly what it is and does.

Critical theory is just the idea that the laws and structures of society were set up by the powerful to preserve the advantage of the powerful.
This theory has no place in an elementary or a middle school social studies class.
Those kids need to learn what the rules organizing society are, not to question the why of the rules.
I suppose critical theory could inform parts of a middle school level history class, help kids understand why the society was the way it was, but it should by no means be the focus of the class. And it shouldn't be part of a high school level civics class.
Critical theory concepts, including critical race theory, should be discussed at the college level.
My fellow southpaw Mark Brunell will probably always be my favorite Jaguar.

Yeah, they are not ones I'd want to piss off. Good to know they alerted civilians to evacuate.

Julian Edelman pointed out the people are not their governments and I agree. More often than not we are at the mercy of decisions our government makes by people who have no idea who they're representing (they're out of touch), they're not (as) affected by their decisions, and they have agendas. Trump policies may have been good for the country but his mouth and twitter account were not. Yes, he was putting truth out there the MSM would have not reported, but the guy needed to tone it down. A LOT. Now we have an administration whose mouthpiece is obviously suffering from old age issues and can't seem to function and the policies, only some advantageous for select people groups, are on the whole extremely bad for the country overall. Either way it's divisive to the nth degree with big tech and MSM stirring the pot.

I'm sure there are Palestinians who want nothing more than to just live their lives and let everyone live theirs and they're the ones who are suffering in this thanks to Hamas.

I'm not well versed in the whole Palestinian/Israeli thing so if anyone has a relatively unbiased source to read about it I'm down for reading it. This is something I've never really quite understood, their conflict.

I almost agree with you. CRT is not something that should be taught at any level. What does it accomplish other than division between races? If that's going to be taught then critical theory should be taught about every people group and that's not possible. Racism is not the only issue in America, it's only highlighted because it serves an agenda.

I will say here what I've said in another thread; it begins at home. If people treated each other as they want to be treated that would solve so many problems regardless of race, culture, socioeconomic status, gender, etc. Sadly that's not the world we live in. There is a lady on my Nextdoor app who was shaming another woman for filling gas cans at a gas station a few days ago after filling her car. I asked her if she knew why the woman had done that and she said she didn't. I pointed out it's possible the lady's teenage son cuts yards for neighbors for extra cash and she was filling the gas cans for him. I told her it's attitudes like hers (speaking without knowing facts) that divides our society and her reply was that people don't speak up enough with facts and she's just levelling the playing field. That is one of many issues wrong with people. They think two wrongs will make a right. And this woman is raising kids that will think and act just like her and they'll go out and treat people like complete trash for no reason. IT STARTS AT HOME.
