I just don’t understand all the hate with our draft class. ET was a best available player type of pick. Give him the ball and let him score. He’s a homerun hitter and nobody else besides maybe Shenault has that type of game breaker ability.

I like the idea of getting him out wide a bit. That way you wont have to sacrifice James Robinsons production for ETN. vice versa

I like the theory. When the offense substitutes, the defense substitutes to fit the offensive personnel. When Etienne is in the game, is he a RB or a WR? Same with Shenault. It's stressing the defense, stretching the field, giving the QB more options.

He will be an Alvin Kamara type player. Urban understands where the NFL is headed.

I believe he comes in opposite Chark on 3rd downs wth Jones in the slot with 3 WR.. Giving ETN a chance more to play inside and out..

From the RB position, besides staying at the tailback, ETN can motion into a slot or out wide position on a play. With his speed and WR skills (which they are teaching him), he becomes a stress on the defense and likely mismatch. You can easily have ETN and Shenault on the field at the same time.

They definitely see him as that McCaffrey / Kamara style player.
With the connection TLaw has with his I reckon his receptions could be close to 100 this season.

Wait. What?

You think they take Shenault off the field in 3 WR sets and place ETN out wide?

Fixed (RB depth chart)--- Hybrid in this case means duel functionality.

Opposite means Etienne will play on one side and Shenault on the other side.

Except he said opposite Chark....

Just for clarity purposes, in 3 WR sets and Etienne, do you think it would look like this?

Chark     Jones                                Etienne     Shenault

                                 Lawrence

Do teams still run true 4 wide spread formations with 1 TE like that?

I feel like 4 WR sets these days are normally trips, bunch, stacks, or even a spread with WR so close to OL, they almost act like TE's

Very interested to see how Meyer uses Etienne and Shenault to create mismatches.
Both are capable. Both on the field at once will tax defenses to commit a defender that may or may not match up - or allow each player an opportunity to exploit zone coverage.
It really could be a great thing for the offense.
